Managers, in general, , don't want to even think about calling out other teams on this. So many pitchers are are using pine tar, or whatever, to get a better grip on the ball, especially in cooler weather. Add to the fact, if you ask hitters, I'd bet a good percentage of them would be rather have pitchers get a grip on a slick ball that's coming at them at 100 MPH.

edited to add.....I should have read Collin's comments first

Catchers on almost every pitch, rub the ground then rub the dirt off on their leg.......

Defacing the ball. Adding a foreign substance.

Oh come on you know better than that. That rule is under pitching regulations.

Isn't the pitcher going to pitch that same ball?

So what? It's not like he's smothering pine tar all over it.

After this thread, Salvador will ask Rawlings to redesign the shin guards for next season. :sarcasm: I wonder how much Rawlings paid him to leave All-Star.

Enough for him to leave All-Star .... which is FAR BETTER EQUIPMENT....so it was enough!   Brad at All-Star confirmed "Salvi went for the money:

He's not discoloring the ball, or rubbing it. He's putting it on his fingers.

Not in MLB

i watch a lot of Giants games and almost every pitch Posey gives the sign then reaches down, rubs his hand in the dirt, then wipes it off on his leg. And i have seen many other

catchers in the MLB do the same.

haven't been able to watch many Royals games to see if Perez is doing this.

just may be some of what the coloring on his shin guard is.
