What does everyone wear, and where did you buy it?  Thoughts on the patent leather or "police" style?  Hear a lot of people say don't get one, but witness with my own eyes a lot of guys fairly high up the food chain wearing them.

Not true.. wear what you want.. as long as its is good shape.. I wear a patent on the plate ( cause it helps hold up the ball bags) and I wear a normal black belt on the bases.

Mike, what does T.T. wear?

Boston Leather 1-3/4". Real leather. Order two sizes bigger than your pants. Check the USPS uniform supplier websites for the best prices. Patent leather is so ugly even the postal carriers won't wear it.

check out   www. postaluniform.com..........boston leather, black, 1 3/4 inch wide in your size for less than $12.00, with FREE shipping......a great deal!!!!!!

I have a plain black 38 that has a removable gold buckle. Boston leather. Brand new. Hanging in the closet, never to be used.

After 21 years in the USN with a decent percentage as an embedded liaison to the USMC they don't scare me. I respect them but I don't fear them. Plastic < leather. BTW I never wore plastic shoes either. They look fake. Oh wait, they are......

There was another place someone posted a link to a few years ago. I got a 1 3/4" patent leather bealt which has held up awesomely at a dirt cheap price. I don't remember the name but I'll look an repost if I can.

I don't like patent leather myself, in either shoes or belts (but I *really* don't like it in shoes), but it is rather common and preferred in my area. So I broke down and got one this year. But I don't have to like it!

That's how I am with creased caps. Which makes me a shabby, inferior umpire for not loving it I'm sure.

Okay, yeah that's the reason you're a shabby, inferior umpire.😄 BTW, I agree with your opinion on both hat & belt. Larry Sansevere Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What is the official NCAA baseball stance on patent leather?  I know in the softball manual it says 'no', but that is more or less ignored by a lot of people.

Does the NCAA say okay for baseball, or are y'all just ignoring them?

I don't think they have an official policy.  I don't like the belts.  I bought my most recent belt at a police (and other uniform) supply store.  Relatively inexpensive and has held up for 3 years now.
