My first scrimmage is tonight, but no real games yet.

 

It's very strange how a lot of organizations assign you to a specific position, either BU or PU for a game.

 

Our's leaves it up to us to figure out with your partner who wants what for the game.

 

Only exception is the playoffs.

Yeah it helps that Texas is a flat fee for plate or bases some places are not

OR and WA both start first/second week of March. As for positional assigning. WA leaves it up to the umpire. OR assigns it out. I prefer to have it assigned so you know who is working where.

Game went really . He had the most thorough pregame i have ever heard from a partner. This guy is one to tell you if you did something wrong. He said he couldn't find anything bad to tell me.

High School starts in March in Jersey but as I watch the snowflakes fall  hope springs eternal that it will happen then. About positioning my assignors give you plate or bases ( Prefer plate having caught baseball for 27 years) as this way you do not get the I stuck in traffic call on your cell can you do th eplate I will get the next one which with some it never comes.

In the St. Louis area, we get the same fee whether we do the plate or the bases.  As far as plate/base assigning, it's up to us on who does what.  I

Sometimes I like it when it is assigned out. I hate listening to "plate dodgers" excuses.

As someone who was often sprinting from work to the ball field I liked not having it assigned I would rather have more games and work the bases then fewer games

Our association assigns Plate or bases. They do it for a reason. They want to see certain guys work and get evaluated. Sometimes they just don't want a certain Umpire behind the plate.
