Anyone have an inside information when the new pants were in. I called and asked and I'll I got was "the middle of October" well it's the middle of October and no pants.

Here's my advice. Place your order with ump-attire. If you must deal with the poor customer service, call them (Gerry Davis) again.

The new association I work for requires JD pants. They told me they wont have the new pants until early December a month or so ago.

I wear GD and love them. :P

Ditto.

Trippo. Only thing I dislike is those 3 belt loops, but I don't look at my ass when I am umpiring so it doesn't bother me.

I have never owned them but from what I see and what others have said they are good quality. The problem is the color doesn't match traditional charcoal, and I think it is the texture as much as the color. They are "flatter" in color versus the color texture of the charcoal. So if your association used Gerry Davis pants then great, but it will be noticeable if you are wearing one and your partner is wearing the other. - And when I say noticeable, I primarily mean among umpires. Mommies in the stands won't care.

I thought the 3 loops were a ® kinda thing until I realized none of my GDs have them

I never will understand why the 3 belt loops bothered anyone. I really never have.

About 1/2 the time, Pete Jr will miss the middle of the three loops with his belt. I've always gotten a hearty laugh at his expense when it happened, because it hadn't happened to me. Let's just say ol' Pete doesn't laugh about it anymore, lol.

I have a set of the GD, if I have the need to wear them.

But honestly, fellas, the difference in quality in the GD vs. the Honig's/Hardwick pants is night and day. If you've never worn the poly wool pants, think of this: Remember the first time you put on a really nice suit? Not a Sears polyester monkey suit, but a nice Italian, satin or silk lined wool suit. That's what it's like.

I get why the GD pants are worn. They're cheaper in price, easy to clean, easy to press, and look okay. If everyone is wearing them, they're fine. If that's what your oranization goes with, that's cool.

Just don't try to tell me the GDs are just as good, or better.

Oh, and those three, grossly oversized beltloops crowding the backside of your pants look rediculous.

For me, life's too short for cheap suits, inexpensive cigars, light beer, whole wheat pancakes, bargain toilet paper, inferior firearms or polyester pants. Some (most) things in life are worth paying a little more for.

Add me to the list of loving my GD Pants.... Besides, almost everyone in my area wears them anyways.

I have some several pairs that I have used for the past 4 seasons. They are nice...and my favorite behind my poly wools. My plate GD are just about worn out. They have a couple of small stains and I don't really like the hem on them.

The only purchase I need to make for the next season are some pants and maybe shirt numbers. I am pretty sure that I want another pair of UA base and plate poly wools and I am on the fence about ordering another pair of GD plate pants.

I have some smitty pants that I got on the cheap when some store in CA was going out of business, but they are my least favorite.
