Besides looking stupid, he is really clumsy hooking it and unhooking it. I don't have to look to see where my arm is to hold my mask. It's right there with hanging your mask in the small of your back by the throat guard.

I don't know but usually when I rub my balls, I don't have my mask on me. Plus if I ever needed my balls rubbed during the game I usually have a ball boy do it for me. Of course I do mean baseballs...the other balls are securely held inside my nuttybuddy.

BTW if you are wearing the hook how would you get into the ball bag that you have the hook on? I would guess you would need a second hook, cause as we all know you just have to use the hook. rollinglaugh.gif

It's funny, the website says, "Mask no longer getting dirty from being laid down on the field." Has anyone ever seen an umpire that is taken seriously drop his mask to make lineup changes? This clip must be marketed to unprofessional umpires looking for a way to look even more absurd.

Thank you coach that is 12! really.... ok I LOATH this product for a few reasons. 1. as mentioned its unprofessional looking. 2. It clumsy to get on and off. I mean its his invention and he gets the thing caught! 3. What happens when a foul ball hits it, or a catcher turns and you don't open the gate quick enough and his jersey gets caught on that thing! 4. Why take away one of the most useful tools to an umpire... i mean ball boy comes i have a shelf for the balls. 5. finally and most importantly he says so you don't have to put it on the ground! Mean if you don't have this product its ok, or the norm. So he's filling a "need." Learn to clean the plate, put on your mask on, and hand or catch baseballs with one hand. Simple safe, professional, traditional. Next thing i'll see is that he'll have a larger version for those poor souls who have a bucket, and don't know what to do.

Love the navy ball bags with the black shirt!

Not only the Navy bags... what about the long sleeve undershirt with a short sleeve shirt... this guy is funny... hope he make a million $$$

Question... why do umpires put a sun visor in/on their mask... doesn't wearing a hat under your mask do the same thing? Always wondered?

Its used to protect the bill of your cap from sun fading! tongue.gif At least that what somebody else said!blink.gif

24 A sun visor in Hamilton?? Really? Doesn't the smog do the trick?

LOL most of my games in Hamilton are at parks on the mountain, so the smog-free environment

He hasn't shaken his accent in 30 years?

Wow, I was in Australia for 30 hours and I had to resist the natural tendency to talk like a fruitcake.

I like the new method of removing the mask with the right hand, then switching to the left in order to hang it - however, not nearly as much as I LOVE the two-handed method of shaking to disengage the mask from the hook.

But to be fair, he probably doesn't lay his mask on the ground any more.

Other advantages of the Hands Free Umpire :

  1. Allows user to have both hands free to send a text message or use your cell phone between innings.......
  2. Both hands are free to grab a quick hot dog and soda from the concession stand
  3. Allows the umpire the freedom to execute the "double high five" during the post game handshake line.
I am sure that there are more uses out there.
