HS Baseball is in full swing here. It had been storming the past few days but this week is going to be up to high 70's and down to mid-sixties. Perfect baseball weather.

I feel like the kid on the playground that never got picked for kickball this season. I can't wait to get back out there. I think I'm going to go catch a couple of varsity games this week just to see if it helps. :(

Our assigner chose not to assign regular season early because they constantly change games right up to the beginning of the season.

Our assingor starts loading Arbiter in Dec (scrimmages start in March, reg season 4/1). He doesn't release the schedules until 3/1 or later because of the changes that are still happening now.

Amusing anecdote...a certain HS schedule BB & SB, 3 levels (frosh, jv & v) against another school 3 days in a row and submitted as part of his schedule. Our assignor noticed it when he was assigning the umps.

I did Kittattiny/Kennelon JV today. Great game. 2-1 with Kittattiny scoring 2 in the bottom of the 7th. Fist impression is these new BBCOR bats are going to keep the scoring down. Seems like some guys were hitting rockets that ended up being cans of corn. Beautiful day to be on the field again today. Hope this weather keeps up. Next week I've got a game at Wallkill Valley, and Morristown at Kinnelon Friday.

We start scrimmages when the kids return from Christmas break, and roll into the regular season tournaments in mid-February. So we're almost a month into the HS season already, with the first rainouts expected this Saturday. Next to Arizona, we have it pretty good.

I feel for ya. It sounds a lot like the northeast was last year. So much snow, then flooding rains. About 55% of my high school schedule was wiped out. The ground was so saturated, it would rain on Monday and fields wouldn't be playable for another 2-3 days. And of course it wold rain again by the 3rd day. More than a few teams never got in a home game due to the wet conditions. Hope it gets better for you guys up there real soon.

I had twelve games last week. Four high school and eight 13-14 USSSA. This week I have two high school and nine over the coming weekend. Getting tired already.

I don't know how you guys do it. Twelve games in a week...I get to four or five in a week and my body feels it.
