  1. Many of our fellow Umps here are cops. If the kid who's beaned parents decide to take their anger out on you. Should they ignore it because you deserved it? As an umpire for kids, the most important thing is safety. Allowing kids to throw at each other is a big violation of that responsibility. If I was your assignor, you would be done working for me and would let other assignors in my area know as well. If you truly believe what you wrote, please do everyone in your area a favor and stop umpiring today.
  2. Executive Producer of a TV Series. I'm having to take a leave of Absence from Umpiring.

  5. What if you inform the BOD that you will be reporting the assault of a sports official to the police? I'm sure they don't want any negative press that usually comes with that.
  6. As someone who works in the industry, I can verify that this is legit.
  7. Welcome, I've worked with many of those gentleman for football.
  8. Don't all the funerals for dead balls drag out the games? :smachhead: :Spit_20Laugh:
  9. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$? Depends on the area and level. In Oregon, I made about $55/ game. In LA I made about $65/ game. Dues and fees were different as well. IN OR it was $65 dues and in LA it's almost $100.
  10. I did football for a few years before my day job prevented me. You get less grief because if they push you, you can throw a flag on them and it actually hurts them. ( 15 yards) Gear is less than the cost of baseball. There is a lot of training needed though because each penalty has its own enforcement.
  11. About a year ago, I moved from Salem, Oregon to Los Angeles, CA with the hope of making it in the Entertainment industry as a writer. This move made me take a break from umpiring for first time since I started 6 years ago. One week from today, my first project starts filming. It's a new media project with the strong possibility of getting it on television. If you are interested in following along with it, I encourage you to follow us on Facebook at Facebook.com/teenidolchris Thank You LAump

    Missing it

I've had to take this season off because of my day jobs. I have to say that I miss being on the field more that I thought I would. I'm living it through all of you, whom have been sharing your stories. Hopefully next year I'll be able to get back out there and join you,
  15. I had a girl from the yearbook run onto the field during the action so she could take pictures. When the coach asked her what she was doing, she said her teacher said she could.
  16. I had one similar where it was 30 to 0 after the top of the first. The home team pulled his team off the field after the bottom of the second with it being 44 to nothing.
  17. A week op Premires for Clients means no basball for me.

  18. I had a kid who was wearing a Livestrong bracelet that my partner (PU) chose not to see. The kid slid head first into 2nd base getting that bracelet caught on the cleat of the fielder. The kid had a severe break of his wrist and our association had to hire a lawyer. Luckly the parent's didn't sue but they could have.
  19. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9223657/jason-collins-first-openly-gay-active-player When do you think an active openly gay baseball player will come out?
  20. A coupe of years ago. I had a coach ask me why his batter was out when he made it to first before the fielder caught the fly ball. This guy's baseball experiance was watching Baseball Tonight the day before the game. He had a few others like telling a batter that he had a great "can of corn" on a ground ball to the short stop. He was restricted by the 3rd inning.
  21. I work in a film/TV casting office and also at a Talent Management company. So basically I work with actors.
  22. Cardinals report that Stan Musial has passed at age 92.

    "42"

I I know how you feel. I got to do the same for thing for the Film, Struck By Lighting, Staring Chris Colfer, Allison Janney, Christina Hendricks. I was even lucky enough to be invited to the opening in LA. It's such a thrill to see yourself on the big screen for the first time even if only for a second or two.
