The MLB slacks, Honig's and UA are all made by Hardwicks in Tennessee. The material is ALL the same. The MLB pant has white canvas pockets and each ump has their own custom pattern for short rise, long rise etc. Honigs and UA have black pockets and UA have expanders. That's it!! You have the skinny from the gear king who is in the know .....

Yes but are both brands compatible?

Chris, can you take them into your local grocery store and weigh them on the produce scale?

Also, is the black material inside the pockets of the UA pants the same as the Honig's pants?

By the way, what mask is that you're holding in the picture with the plate coat? I must have it...

I bet those little expander buckles make it weigh at least and extra .1ounces.

Could make a big difference when you work 5 games on a Saturday.

Has anyone actually seen the U-A poly wool pants? How are they in terms of color compared to the Honigs pants? Im with a couple other guys. If I could go through Jim for all my needs I would. Went to Honigs-West Coast yesterday. Asked to see some stuff I have not seen yet and bought some small stuff. I felt like I was not wanted. Small quick stuff I will get from them but anything big will come from our friends in Kentucky.

I have the U-A Polywools I like the color, but have never had the Honigs ones.

Compared to the Smitty Charcoal they are a shade lighter, but you'd have to place them on TOP of each other to notice. That's actually how I did.

Thanks Warren. I really would like to go with these. Need to save up for them a bit but hopefully can get a pair of each. I ordered some Smitty Charcoal pants last year to replace my aging Honigs Polywool pants but A) didnt like the color and B) didnt like the fact that the pockets were white. So I had to send them back. Think I turned it into Ultimate shirts so it was basically an even exchange.

If the color is the same and the fabric is just as good, these will be my new "nice" umpire pants by the start of next season. :yippie:

How did you like the Ultimate shirts? I have the Ultimate shirt that I use for football and would not trade them for a Mercedes!

Can someone tell me if the buttons and the zipper on the UA's match the Honig's???? I really need to know before I go out on the field and miss a balk call because I was too damn worried if my UA pants matched my partners Honigs pants! :smachhead:

How did you like the Ultimate shirts? I have the Ultimate shirt that I use for football and would not trade them for a Mercedes!

I wouldnt trade them for anything. I still use honigs right now as my base shirts. But the Ultimate is my plate shirt. Even bought it long sleeve in navy and black. I have an older WV Gold where the velcro doesnt lay completely flat on the shoulders. When I used to wear honigs on the dish I had to constantly adjust and pull on the shirt to get it to unstick from the velcro. With the Ultimate shirts now its just one adjustment before I get to the field and all is well. Oh and I feel they are lighter and more breathable then the honigs. Ill swear by them if you like. LOL

I hate to prolong a post which has gone on way too long, but here's a question for all you pants experts: The poly-wool pants are "dry clean only." Has anyone sent these pants thru the washer and dryer? I'm sure this will generate some stories.

I always wash mine in the washer :fuel:

And how do they hold up when you do that? I don't want to be surprised if I make a mistake.
