What type, size, style belt do you use and would think would be best overall and/or for LL district tournaments?

I have belts similar to this...shiny, etc, think it's too much?

What type of belt would be best. I just use a plain black belt you would use for jeans the regular season. I don't see any MLB guys or anyone use something that fancy, but I have stuff and they're only $22-25 anyway.

So, opinions on belts.

That's what I wear (the one that's listed) as do most guys in my high school association.

I think the patent leather belt should only be worn with patent leather shoes. Not a big fan of either, so I use the standard black leather 1 3/4" belt as well.

Another place I was told to look for belts and will check them out next time I'm in the market is a police uniform supply shop. Some members of my association use police garrison belts and they look good and I've been told their less expensive too. But I have no first hand knowledge.

this is the one I wear also....it was the required belt of the college association a few years back.....patent leather has since been losing some popularity....

I dont really care about patent leather or not....to me its the size.....do not wear a thin dress belt. You have to get one that fills up the belt loops...

The local army navy suplus stores sell garrison belts that are reasonable and present a smart appearance...

I wear a plain black leather belt that's an inch and a half wide. JCPenney, cost me around $15.

I can't stand patent leather - shoes, belts, or anything else. While it's plenty shiny, it just looks "cheap and chintzy" to me. Back in my navy days, I always preferred to use some elbow grease and spit to make my leather dress shoes sparkle instead of getting patent leather ones. I always thought the guys that wore the patent leathers were simply too lazy to take the time to shine their shoes.

And they melt in a fire ... though that's not such a concern to me any more.:smachhead:

I also don't like patent - I got a wide leather belt at JCP or Kohl's or someplace like that.

That's what I was mostly using, but they rarely carry anything that look normal or fits in. With the patent leather you gotta wear it in properly. They look cheap because the leather is still stiff, so it looks plastic like. Essentially what I have is a garrison belt and it should look ok better than the cheap belt I use. I'll figure out what uniform items look good on me in time.

Ah, but I know for this statement that you were never on a submarine.... :shakehead:

(Shoe polish = verboten.)

And any Navy base you were on - did you ever notice what the Marines were wearing? :smachhead: Good enough for them, good enough for me.

Well, see - the thing is, I make it look good. :smachhead::shakehead:

I used a patent leather belt for the first time Sat. I was on the bases for the first game of a double. I had taken everything in the night before for cleaning. Somehow I forgot my belt and had to borrow one from a buddy. I immediately called my son to bring my other one for the plate .

I used patent leather belt my first year. The belt ripped at the hole where I always hooked it. From that point forward I went with my first instinct and use regular leather.

My personal opinion (with due respect to all that think otherwise) is that patent leather looks cheap and plastic. The shine looks phoney.

I have both. A while back patent leather was the standard. But i can clean and polish a standard leather belt to look just as good. i dont use my patent leather as much anymore. But it does look good in a pinch. balls and strikes baby!!!!:wow:
