The more FED aligns with NCAA the better it is for the player and umpires. Many more of us are getting chances to work in the college ranks and still do FED at the same time. Having as many rules the same would give the kids a better experience because we would have better instincts at both levels and knowledge base. Plus, HS kids goal is to play at the next level. The more you align the rule set with the next level, the better chance they have at an easy transition to that. Third, not a rule but a HUGE encouragement for all Varsity District/League/Conference games to use a 3-man crew. Can't be mandated by budget reaons but a strong encouragement from the FED could help go a long way.

I am a new member if that myself. Region 5 does have one assigner for all conferences.

There is also a timing issue with blocks. Assigners can assign games but not publish them out. If you block the dateafter the assigner has assigned the games but not published, it will still publish to you since the assignment happened before the block.

You never see a miss. The question is did you see a tag. If you don't see a tag you have safe. Think of all calls in the vein of did you see a tag or not?

Are you allowed to alter any rules for your tournament as the host? Can you simply make a NO jewelry rule for it?

I would never umpire on that field again. For someone to pull that on an umpire who knows that an umpire controls the game once the first pitch is delivered is wrong. I hope you have trouble getting umpires to your field because what else would you question and overrule and umpire on now?

If you truly feel it is not safe you tell your partner you are calling the game because you now have two players that do not feel safe playing and you do not feel safe letting the game continue. If he wants to continue he will have to without F6, F4 and a BU. Sometimes a partner needs to be convinced in a strong way.

Depends on division and age group. Since you say MSBL I am guessing 35+ since it is not MABL. Slow games, not great quality. Pitching is easy to call since. i will say in Florida and New Mexico I have worked both and the guys get lippy. They like to argue if they disagree and be ready for colorful language. It is baseball but I gave it up, was not enjoying it as much as summer college baseball league around here.

If it was an NFHS game he was just trying to follow the rules on having to have one haha. He is lucky I was not his partner since I never carry one when on the bases. He would have been screwed.

I like that except cut out "given the instruction you gave him." That opens an umpire up to rabbit ears comments and a whole lot more we don't need. Your judgement was he did not disengage legally and that is it. You got it!

I find that umpires are the biggest loud mouths as coaches. Not all but seems to be a trend.

I think you were right to call like. Like it was said before, if you for sure have it call it without a conference to your partner. That way you sell it right away and they see you decided at the time. With the new FED mechanics you call OB right away loudly. Let the know. Good catch and way to keep all eyes on the field. Not easy in 2 man.

It is summer ball. All we do is collect pay checks and not care if the calls are right. Or do you all call summer ball like it means something. #sarcasm

Noting to see here move on. If the player and coach are dumb to lose track of the ball it is their fault. As long as the pitcher isn't on the mound for hidden ball trick after that is.

And I tell the ump that it's OK to pay with Monopoly money per 123.54.16(f ) Coaches don't pay me so that won't scare most of us away. Try again!

Someone should also suggest to that coach to place a painted line where dead ball area begins between the fence lines.

I tell the coach he is not allowed to use a left handed catcher due to rule 107-5-4c.

Hard to tell due to angle but you may have dead ball simply and award bases for overthrow. If the manager is behind those posts and that is deemed to be dead ball once past the doorway then he is fine and we award based on overthrow rules. If he is in live ball area then he interfered with the ball not going out of play thus you penalize depending if he was offensive or defensive coach accordingly.
