  1. When you are done laughing, say, "YES HE WENT"...
  2. There were days I wished I was high on something.
  3. The way I see it, if you want to count coaches, measure bats, clean bases or the rubber, and use robotic mechanics work softball . I've done my Little League work, I played babysitter to the dumbass coaches and board members who were virtually clueless. And yes, I counted coaches during play-off time, and I made them ask permission to leave the dugout to go tinkle too. I was a damn good babysitter, for NO pay !
  4. I say go for it! It's fall ball and you will probably get to work with guys who you can network with.
  5. Ok, please explain why the coach was doing this. It makes no sense.
  6. Not my circus, not my monkees. Until they become an issue, then deal with it.
  7. When in a parking lot, keep your pants on.
  8. Well Done!! Remember to relax and take the time to enjoy the experience.
  9. Oh when will they ever learn?
  10. An ASSistant coach, yelling at you, trying to tell you how to do your job, UH NO WAY, he's gone. There is no reason to even converse with this guy, it won't get you anywhere.
  11. Where is the baseball? In the fielders possession or was she blocking the base without the ball?
  12. Wait, we are talking about soccer?
  13. How did you know what he discussed with your partner? If a coach comes to me asking about my partners call, he's going to get an earful AND no help.
  14. I'm very confuzzled about this one. What was all that signalling for, just to call him safe?

Of course it's your fault for letting it get to you, who else would be at fault? Coaches sometimes lose their faculties in tense situations, we need to keep our wits about us at all times. If they want to dance around frantically looking like a lunatic, that's their choice. Sometimes things just come out of their mouths, which are not directed at you particularly, so you should just ignore these random statements. You are in your first half season of umpiring. Its good that you know the rules, and its good you are using good mechanics. Keep learning and getting better. You will learn what comments to pay attention to and which ones to ignore. One of the most important things we learn is that we don't have to react to everything we hear or see, unless it is directed at us.
  16. I agree its surprising but not about it being common, as I have never seen that done before.
  17. Sam Adams, Cheetos and a nice cigar. Just don't get the orange dust on your shirt.
  18. Fed Case book has a situation like this one. Not sure if the coach from the 3rd base box is the HC or an assistant. 3.3.1 SITUATION Q: With a base runner on first and following an attempted steal, the assistant coach for Team A who is coaching first, leaves the coaching box and charges onto the field to talk to the base umpire in a two-person crew arguing that the runner was safe on the steal attempt. RULING: The assistant coach who was coaching first, and the head coach are now restricted to the dugout for the remainder of the game. If the conduct of either coach were of such gravity to violate Rule 3-3-1g in other parts, the coach( es) could be ejected. (2014-11-12). 2015 NFHS Baseball Case Book (Kindle Locations 712-716). NFHS. Kindle Edition.
  19. FED does not mandate that we have to restrict before we eject. What we do is dependent on the severity of the behavior. I do believe that leaving the coaching box and coming onto the field to argue a judgement call is severe enough to warrant an ejection, and that is what I would do in this this situation.
  20. First of all, shame on the umpires who let this go on in the first place. A coach doesn't have a choice about following the safety rules and umpires don't have a choice about enforcing them, in my opinion. Why does the BOD need anyone's opinion, they should read the rule book and then encourage that everyone follow the rules. Pretty simple solution.
  21. Go ahead and lock this, it has nowhere to go but downhill.....
  22. The guy has a rat for an avatar and complains when we call coaches rats? Somebody explain that one to me.
  23. I generally don't watch pre-game infield, but I do watch the between innings infield throwing. Like others, I try to get a gauge of infielders arms, as well as the F3's fielding ability. I also watch the F2's throw down to get an idea of his arm strength and accuracy.
  24. Oh well, caca happens. He deserved to be gone. 9U daddy coach's, don't you just love them.
  25. Don't "hear" what is being said in the dugout, unless the noise is coming out of the dugout and directed at you. Yes, the coach asked his batter where the catcher was lining up, and he asked loud enough for you to hear. Ignore it. Don't have rabbit ears, that will do nothing but get you in trouble. Players will tell the coach what they think he wants to hear, which most times is an exaggeration or outright untruth.
