Today I had a game that went 9. Bottom 6 HT inserts pinch runner for F2 and re inserts F2 in top 7. Bottom 8 F2 walks with 2 out. Coach comes to me to pinch run for F2. What do you do?

Went to Boston 2 years ago. These 1 day camps are geared toward minority participation, which is great. Charlie Reliford seems to be on a mission to get these kids into the system. All the instructors are great. They participate, they listen and they respond to all inquiries. If anyone out there has an opportunity to attend, you'll be thrilled with the session.

I agree - Price is right on this. But he didn't have to get tossed to make the point. Once Danley owned up and told Price it did, in fact, hit Jay, and that he blew it by not signalling it, that should have been the end of it. Lessons here - 1) Always signal a HBP and 2) don't throw the ball in the dirt!

First of all, R1/R3 does indeed have runners occupying bases other than first: R3 is on third base, which is a base other than first. Next, to mean what you think it means, it should say, "...with runners occupying ONLY bases other than first." Of course, FED rules writers are syntactically challenged, so this point is not probative. Finally, by your reasoning, they'd want us in B with bases loaded and with R1/R2. They don't. We both know where we're supposed to be with R1/R3. I simply think when the wording is specifically "other than" first, it doesn't INCLUDE first.

As I've already posted, the FUM is contradictory. On p. 40, it says position C "will be used in any situation with runners occupying bases other than first base in the two-man system." So with R1/R3, that statement implies you'd be in C. On p. 41, it states, "with a single runner at first or with runners at first and third, you will be in position B..." Since anything follows logically from a contradiction, I choose B. I don't see anything contradictory. "C will be used in any situation with runners occupying bases other than first" - R1/R3 doesn't meet that qualification - OTHER THAN.

Got my first game in yesterday. Rain threatening all game. 37 degrees. My BU was a popsicle after 2 innings. Home team was playing away because their field is destroyed from 120 inches of snow. They got LOST on the way to the game and pulled into the lot AT scheduled game time. 6-0 in 1:45. What a great day for a game!

I have the opposite problem. I can see the lineups just fine. It's the distance stuff I have an issue with. I wear contacts so I wind up with the SAME problem you have - I can't see the damn lineup cards!

I've had the gold, the platinum, a Schutt air-flex, a champion, an all-star system 7 and 2 Douglas. The Douglas' were, by far, the narrowest around the neck.

What on God's green earth is a "mentee"? These programs are great in theory, but when the rubber hits the road, none of the veteran guys want to put in the hard work required. Period.

I've stopped reading @MidAmUmp posts, for a couple reasons. 1) he's increasingly grumpy, probably because he's exposed to too many self righteous d1 guys who don't have time for lower-level yahoo umpires. 2) while acknowledging he's more knowledgeable than me, he comes across as too driven. Wait. @MidAmUmp doesn't like the bucket? That bucket is an amateur umpires dream. I know I can get a lot of that stuff in my bag, but the bucket in the back of my van is perfect.
