  1. I received my folder the other day. Can't wait to put it to use. The price seemed a little much at first but I'm glad I went for one. I can tell this is going to last a while.
  2. I do enjoy #PitchersWhoRake.
  3. Could be worse I suppose. At least they got the rulings right, which isn't always a given.

    This Early?!

I had a Freshman game on Thursday and we had to tell coaches on both teams to put a lid on. Oh well it's early still.
  5. Sounds like a pro-wrestling rule. It makes for good drama when the face is crawling and struggling to tag in his fresh and ready to go partner before the heel can stop him.
  6. I had a Platinum but had misgivings about the lower rib protection as well. I fully admit it may be mental but I just didn't like the coverage. I sold that and went with the S7 in 15" and haven't regretted it at all. I don't think it's all that bulky and certainly don't have any mobility issues with it. It was a little tight in the neck but I got used to that pretty quickly. The collarbone protection is superb and the delta flex harness keeps everything in place perfectly. It really comes down to trial and error and what works best for you.
  7. Forest, I'm finding we have some crazy backstops in our area. I worked a school the first week that had one of those low, overhanging backstops and had a foul ball ricochet from there and dropped on the top of my head. First time I've ever had that happen. I still don't want to wear an HSM. Glad you're OK!
  8. The look isn't terrible IMO. Evidently there is a black version with a grey stripe also. I wonder if these are staying in spring training?
  9. Last Sunday were games two of three for the season I've already had to eject a player. Second game of a double header, I'm on the dish. Batter comes up in the third inning who has already batted once. He hits a deep foul on the first pitch and slings his bat backwards to run and nails the catcher on the hands. I warn him and his manager that another such occurrence will result in an ejection. Wouldn't you know it, the next pitch and he does the same thing except the bat hits ME hard in the shinguard. There were no complaints about it at least. I wonder if the batter got the message?

  10. I thought he was somehow crossing over into legal and illegal football formations.
  11. I worked with a guy yesterday that wore a football girdle with low profile thigh pads. Might be worth considering if you're looking for this type of protection.
  12. At this age I think nipping this in the bud immediately is inappropriate. But that's just me.
  13. Smitty and Honigs do not have the same manufacturer. They are slightly different materials and fit differently. I exclusively wear Smitty shirts and will especially after the poor quality I ran into with Honig's football shirts this year. Smitty runs a size large to accommodate a chest protector so order a size down for bases. That's always worked for me anyways. The standard in my high school group is the black and blue MLB shirts with the piping but we can wear other colors as long as we match our partners. I don't have a problem with the variety of shirts. I buy what I like and as long as we have the standard, we will always match with something. I do think it is important that your group have at least the required minimum shirt styles.
  14. Hey Fed allows an umpire to use a cane, why not a hover board?
  15. I agree, the batter and coach are fishing. I think "No" gives a solid answer and doesn't leave anything to question. Now the batter and coach know that they run that risk of asking for time that late.
  16. How does the color compare to the Smitty pants?
  17. There's an old joke that's a great response to that...
  18. That's fine, I was just confused because BT was asking about polywools so I wasn't sure if they had added an adjustable waist for those as well.
  19. I like that look. I want to get the black diamond big league mask and put my tan TW pads in it. I just don't want to pay the $90 for the mask since I won't even use the pads.
  20. The Honig's polywool has an adjustable waist?
  21. Just priced out two pairs of Davis pants. Shipping alone was nearly $20! Think I'll wait until they have one of their free shipping sales. Yikes.
  22. I'm a huge Giants fan so I'm obviously biased but I rather like Kruk, Kuip and Miller. I'm also partial to Krukow because I went to the same school as he did (so did Ozzie Smith and John Madden). Ray Fosse from the A's is also good but I don't think he's as good as the Giant's guys. Milo Hamilton will always have a special place in my heart also.
  23. Not having had a chance to really look over all three, I don't have much input to share that'd be meaningful to what you're looking for. I am leaning towards the Davis pants myself as I like the expander waistband of the Smitty polyester pants and the Smitty pants have gotten some mixed reviews in the past.
  24. And that is up to the judgment of the umpire. Just because the catcher has the ball in his mask that he is holding, doesn't automagically mean the playing action is over. This is especially true for purposes of taking the test when answers should be based directly on language of the rules or case plays. This is why I believe Answer A is not correct because "It is an immediate dead ball" is not supported by rule. None of the answers are but B is the closest to being correct.
  25. This doesn't mean anything. Fed holds the copyright to their tests, not eteamz. Regardless of your intention, they tend to not like their materials distributed.
