I don't know, I'm kinda glad he kept him in the game because I enjoyed watching him stare at Upton the whole time like he was trying to figure out what kind of bug it was that just got squished on his windshield.

Kid flopped. I got nothing.

Might be a YMMV thing, I put the Delta on my Douglas-Douglas and it's perfect.

Eight days where you will not be hit in the Unequal. The ball repellent legend continues....

I respectfully disagree. Judging by how the behavior is getting, I'd say a lesson is definitely being learned. That is, do whatever you want. Nothing is going to happen to you.

Guess Washington needs to get out there a little sooner....

I'll bet he gets nothing. They'll chalk it up to "being frustrated at himself" and a "rookie umpire taking it the wrong way and trying to make a name for himself."

I say good toss. I'd have done the same.

I think he signaled out on the tag, so he never bothered looking to see if he was out of the line or not IMHO.

I think the hats look great and it's nice to see MLB include the umpires in the tribute.

I think this goes to show that coaches can't fool the kids they coach. Probably nobody knows better than they do when their coach is a tool. He was probably deserving of it for awhile and the player was glad to see he got it. I've had a basketball player tell me the same thing after pitching his father from the stands for bad behavior.

I saw that too. Think he had a new bucket as well.

This is the same play I posted earlier from Boston-Cleveland, but is kind of humorous to watch them all stop arguing when God Bless America is sung. Then at the end everyone leaves in a good mood. Thought you might like it for the humor factor. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=27463361&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_27463361&v=3

As a general rule, never ever read the comments of an internet article. 90% of them are from the dregs of humanity or fake trolls just trying to get people worked up. These two groups are by no means mutually exclusive. As a general rule I agree. However I've seen Steve Wulf's work for a few years. He's very involved with youth sports and trying to keep them in perspective. The article also showed that even someone who should know better, the author, kind of lost his mind when a call didn't go his way. Shows how easily it can happen. I think this is a great article. Oh sure, I liked the article too. I just meant the comments at the bottom of an article are generally worthless, not the article itself. Yup, I fixed my post. I originally misunderstood what you said in yours. I think we're saying the same thing.

Not for nothing, but we use sound in umpiring as well as sight, yes? For example, watch the BR's foot approaching 1B on a banger while listening for the ball to hit F3's glove. Just playing devil's advocate here, but wouldn't a baseball hit that far hitting a metal railing make a hell of a lot different sound than that same ball hitting, say, a padded wall? Wouldn't you take that into consideration assuming the umpire got out into the outfield to observe the play? Maybe I'm being too much of a hockey fan here, but I know a puck hitting a goal post sounds a lot different than it does hitting the boards.

I have an out, but like Mike Prince said had he not put it on cruise control as he approached the plate he probably would have beaten it.

Looks like just another play to me.
