  1. Now if we can just get IAABO basketball away from Honig's....
  2. That is correct....
  3. Basketball here as well.
  4. SF will get a chance for their pound of flesh, THEN the warnings will come.
  5. Looks like Bobby has finally found something he is good at.
  6. Whiny announcers. "Why is it OK for an umpire to put hands on someone blah blah blah." Rarely is an ejected player or manager putting "hands on" an umpire to guide him off the field and prevent him from doing something that may get himself in worse trouble. OK, never is a player or manager doing that. Just announce the game already.
  7. Speaking in regard to bullet resistant Kevlar vests, I have always been instructed that heat and humidity/moisture (especially sweat) serve to degrade Kevlar fibers over time, as well as possibly repeated bending from normal use. Most body armor I know of is guaranteed by the manufacturers for five years, and after that it should be replaced. Now, I am not a scientist or a chemist. I can't say for sure that the five year time frame isn't a scam by manufacturers to get people to buy new armor every five years. I also can't say for sure that encapsulating the Kevlar makes a difference or not. But I do know that when it comes to my own safety, I replace the armor when the manufacturer suggests it should be replaced. Stopping a baseball and a bullet are different things to be sure, but the concept (and thus why Kevlar works in both applications) is the same, stopping blunt force trauma. In my opinion, expecting to get eight to ten years out of Kevlar would be pushing your luck, especially since many of you are calling games in very hot, humid areas. My $.02, your mileage may vary.
  8. That's right .... as long as you don't catapult a sphere traveling over 90 mph at a humans head, it's nonviolent! LOL You know what I mean. Hit him in the backside let both benches get warned and that's the end of it. Oswalt went up high, response has to be in kind. Nope. Don't buy it. Drill him in the a$$, message delivered.
  9. Since when has it been "old school baseball" to throw at someone's head? That's idiotic. Even for a fanboy announcer.
  10. Unintentional. But Young is still a douchebag.
  11. I used to respect Don Mattingly as a player. I have no respect for him as a manager. It seems like this season he has become the star of MLB ejection videos. Rat.
  12. Clevenger must have had a date and wanted to get out of there early. Arguing a call that went his way? Moron.
  13. Warren, I couldn't agree more! You can go to Gils' site (closecall.com) and they have forums etc (comments section) about each EJ, might be interesting. Prepping for a meeting now, but may get a chance at lunch to see what others had to say. Pedroia should have gone after his at-bat ...he was just whining like a school girl! AND YES, ...I love how Nauert kept BobbyV in the game! Yep. Definitely looked like a case of "If I have to stay out here and watch this then so do you."
  14. What is it with the dumb F2's lately whining about balls and strikes? Or maybe Martin was just trying to get "respect in the clubhouse" like Mesoraco.
  15. I'll chime in, Jeff. 6'3" and 240, never been hit there while umpiring (knock on wood). Plenty as a catcher, but never calling. Thanks.... What's your CP? I was sporting the 13" Wilson Charcoal, but now a Douglas of the same size.
  16. I'll chime in, Jeff. 6'3" and 240, never been hit there while umpiring (knock on wood). Plenty as a catcher, but never calling.
  17. Well, he would have thrown out more than two, but no one else was stupid enough to keep complaining about the pitch with a 9 run lead.
  18. I have a deleted video clip....
  19. Actually I was watching this game on NESN. They couldn't figure out what the call was, just assumed the umpire called "time" before the play therefore killing the whole play.
  20. Looks like the shins are spoken for, still have the CP available.
  21. Like I said, make me an offer.... They are truly "lightly used."
  22. I have a lightly used (6 times max) Wilson Charcoal chest protector and a set of Wilson Charcoal shin guards for sale. They are 1 year old and in excellent shape. I'm upgrading, so no longer need them. Would be a great starter CP and shins for a newer umpire or backups for somebody. The chest protector is 13" and the shins are 17". PM me an offer if you are interested.
  23. Sent you a PM....
