  1. On my way to do 2 JUCO games!!! Texas ain't bad either. Y'all have a great day!!!
  2. Here's my thought. Once we judge BI, the batter is going to be out and the runner returns. IF the batter is out on strikes, then we CAN get the runner if a play was possible. If not (runner already on the base), we still penalize the offense (Fed safety rule) by sending the runner back. Is that what we are all saying?
  3. I obviously was clear as mud. I meant if U3 was in D, not C. I do very little 3-man and was questioning why with a single R2 would U3 be in C and not D. My point was that from D he would have had a much better angle for this particular play.
  4. On the field, I would too. Just my poorly worded way of saying that it is ejection worthy.
  5. Yes he kicked the rule (and owes you a beer). However, bringing out a rulebook on the field during an argument is an immediate ejection, IMO, even with the new FED rule.
  6. Maybe not but he would have had a much better angle.
  7. I'm thinking catchers obstruction since it happened first. Maybe the illegally batted ball doesn't happen without the obstruction.
  8. 3-man crew with R2, why is U1 in A and U2 in C? U2 in D would have had a much better view.
  9. BR and all runners advanced safely 1 base. Catchers Obstruction is ignored and there is no option. Inning over, tied game.
  10. All rule codes, if UMPIRE judges contact to be intentional, BR out on the play and R2 out on the interference. Otherwise, FED, if umpire judges BR could have avoided the contact, I think a strong case could be made to get 2 outs. OBR just a train wreck and I believe NCAA would be the same as OBR but not positive.
  11. As Johnny says, this is textbook FPSR. Less than 2 outs, R1 and BR both out and any other runners return to base at TOP (even though in this particular example, there is two outs so just R1 is out).
  12. If you are looking for power, DON'T become an umpire!!
  13. Hustle? Yes. Thrown out at third to end the 8th down by 2, NOT smart!!
  14. I agree it is not a great position. But as someone who does very little 4 man, where should U2 go as this develops?
  15. Under FED, it is correct. Once all infielders have left the diamond, the defense can no longer appeal the BOO. Not sure about OBR.
  16. Right before I read this, my thinking is that it is along the lines of an illegal pitch. I think this is a better explanation.
  17. I think you handled the situation with the coach just fine. I probably would have done the same thing. As far as calling a quick pitch, I would only do this if the pitcher did it repeatedly and then only after warning him that you will call an illegal pitch the next time he did it. I actually had the same situation once and that's how I handled it. Did call it on him once and balked in a run. Didn't have a problem with it the rest of the game. Of course, the coach decide he wanted to watch the remainder of the game from the parking lot. As far as granting time, I only grant it if it is necessary. And that does not include standing up after a pickoff play or an infielder wanting time to throw the ball to the pitcher.
  18. Why would you do this? Would you do this on a "routine" IFF if the fielder drops it? Not our job to protect the runners from themselves. You will have a very irate, and justifiably so, DC if you do this.
  19. We are all trying to get better. That's why we are here!! When you stop trying to get better, it's time to hang them up!
  20. I believe this is correct. An interesting note though, the Union is the one who did not want this reviewable.
  21. Usually. You do get squeezed a little more often. Sometimes going even lower helps, other times up and back. And every once in a while, I will go back to the "regular" slot. Whatever works for that particular batter so see the pitch the best.
  22. I think Harold Reynolds should be the new "He who shall not be named"!!
  23. What ruleset? Did the runner touch the plate and then into the catcher or did he run into the catcher and then touch the plate?
  24. This is nothing. Just tell the fielder to get in fair territory. And since this was a HS league, assuming FED, as long as any part of his body is touching fair territory, he is good.
  25. Looked to me that F2 tagged him with the baseball on the hip. Look at about the 1:53 mark.
