Where to start.
1. That explains today’s email from our esteemed state leadership.
2.  Another example of push button assignors?  Just fill a spot with a body. I don’t think there’s a person involved with high school baseball in NJ who couldn’t look at the schedule and say this game had the potential to be a powder keg. Get the right umpires on the right games.

Nothing earth shattering. Just “game ending procedures”. God forbid they actually discuss game management and how to try to avoid these situations escalating. (Like telling us what went on early should have been addressed with at least warnings to both teams)… No they just tell us what to do after you’ve let the game get out of control.

Just a normal rivalry or was this like the second game of the year where the first one also had tempers flare?

2 seconds into the video, and I'm already ready to send a state memo out.

What the hell are you doing?  What the hell are all those kids doing?

Before the "contact" play . . . What the hell are you doing?  What the hell are those coaches doing sitting on the field?

Newscaster . . . are you sure the umpires were doing their part?

About 8 million other things to add, but I'll just go with I can't blame them for calling the game.  But I think that was the only thing they got right.

I feel sorry for them.  But we do it to ourselves.  I've been there.

They are timing/taunting the pitcher. There is no rule that prohibits them being out there at that point. There are some umpires that do prohibit it, possibly among them you and me. It does set the tone for what happens later.

I counted 7 coaches. Where the heck do you expect them to sit?

just so new jersey does not feel picked on. here is another one from texas and with the ladies.

The way the teammate tackled R3 tells you a lot.

[snarky aside: don't take OFF your helmet and THEN start a fight]

I'm not sure if they played earlier this year, but it's common knowledge what teams need stronger discipline and game management umpires. And that's my point...Maybe it's not common knowledge? maybe the assignors really didn't know? I doubt it.

Perhaps flag football?

That wasn’t a teammate … it was a coach taking down the opposing player.

She may have tripped (that’s the claim and I think the video could support it), but why are you going after the opposing player to separate them, not your player?

Worse … the coach’s mom and the player’s mom reportedly got into a fist fight in the parking lot afterwards.

There is a rule.  Look in Bench and Field Conduct 3.3.1(i).

HUGE point of emphasis around here.  HUGE.

Huh. Yeah, you're right. They are dressed similarly (and coach doesn't appear much older - which helps explain why she did that).

I'm going to guess it is for the marching band to practice. They need lines for blocking.

Are they football unnumbered yardages markers (though hashmarks at first but they should be closer to centerline)?

I made the same mistake at first.  Then I thought it was her coach …

I have never seen a job posting for an Assistant Coach but I assume it includes:

"must have own bucket."

Have bucket, will travel.
