Looking for input.  Looking for recommendations of what to tell a fellow umpire going to pro school in January. Been through the "get in best shape possible, get reps, eat right, blah blah blah", even sent him the blog from a post on here from a guy who went a couple of years back.  Just wondering what else someone who has been there can offer in preparation.

Thanks!

Nothing specific to PS but schools in general... Be quiet, listen and learn. Let the show off's be the show off's. They may have more experience and look great the first couple days but when the courses get past the basics and they get called out for doing evolution's wrong they look foolish. The humble student who makes errors, is corrected and then demonstrates proficiency and the ability to be taught will then look like the super star in the eyes of the instructors.

Be confident but not cocky...

And actually have fun...

Do remember this is a four or five week job interview. Can you handle yourself if they put you on the road with a partner or will you be waking up drunk in the hotel bushes when the sprinklers come on? True tales from pro school

Take twice as many notes in class as you think you should.

Drink twice as much water as you're used to.

Plan on leaving with a life-long best friend.

Good advice. I would add that appearance matters. Keep uniform looking good. Control what you can control and let everything else play out. Know the rules inside and out.
