So excited to try this out tomorrow! I have been using my Honigs K1 for a couple years now but having taken a few really hard shots in 16 and 18U I decided it was time to upgrade to a full hard shell. I am stoked on the removable/washable padding and hope to get many years protection and enjoyment out of this protector.

Purchased from Ump Attire of course...

Fresh out of the box the Allstar 4000CPU with Delta Flex rig.

It looks like the bottom strap is a lot longer on the version that comes with the CP as opposed to the after market version. The giveaway is the adjustment buckle that is not on the replacement version.

See photo. This is an after market shown against my WVP. I had a heck of a time keeping the bottom strap in the buckles. (Nothing that some black duct tape couldn't fix.)

What version does AS ship if you are replacing the harness on a AS CP?

Enjoy the new CP. Give it a couple of games and the adjust the shoulders to suit you. With the DF you won't have to cinch it so tight that it cuts in to you

I have a replacement DF on my back up Douglas.  I was exactly the same harness in every dimension as the harness that was shipped with my All Star CP.

A little tight around the neck, but I really like mine.  A lot lower profile than you might realize.

I'm not sure if the rig I got shipped is longer than yours as shown. If you notice the shoulder pads in the new out of the box are pulled all the way back which I think makes it look a lot longer.

Used the CP in a "game" Saturday... 35-0 beat down... no hits other than a soft bounced bad pitch that got by the catcher... not a real test :-)

I did find the CP riding up on me a bunch which I attribute to having the DF too tight. I loosened it and will try it again tonight to see if I get better results. Also shifted the inside padding a little which resulted in the neck chaffing going away.

So far loving it... will get a chance to try it again tonight.

remember, ...this will naturally sit higher than most CPs because of its design combined w/ the delta flex .....

Agreed... I think I just had it too tight so that the CP was being pulled into my throat and the plastic was what was bugging me when that happened. I normally wear my rig close to my throat but this was a little tighter than I am use to. Just need some games to get the tweaking right.

@Mudisfun I bought this CP last year and went through the same process you are now.  The first game or two I had it too tight and it was getting up into my throat.  A slight strap adjustment solved this problem.  I absolutely love this CP.  A few other guys in my association ended up purchasing this CP after they saw me wearing it during the high school season.

Just wait 'til you get drilled, and just laugh at the ball. I think this is the best protecting rig on the market. A Team Wendy retrofitted, DF equipt Platinum would be a close second.

I really like the padding comes off so easily. You can get a spare, and swap them out between games. No more putting on a wet c/p for your second dish of the day.

Wow Kyle, I didn't think the platinum was second to anything in your book.

After a full season in the System 7, and seeing that is has the same amount of collarbone protection, I've taken the Wilson from atop it's throne. The biggest difference is the the All Star dips down to cover my last rib, with it's unique shape. That's just a great design.

Do you keep the little velcro flaps on?  When I got my S7 from Jeff, he had those flaps attached up higher than what we see in the pics above.  I found that when they are in that position, they tend to get caught in the shoulder pads.  For some reason, I find it hard to get the shoulder pads adjusted properly where they won't lay too far back and give me the feeling that the front of my shoulders are a little exposed.

I also just traded my Douglas for a WV Gold and plan to have it retrofitted by TW.  It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the S7.

I put those flaps up high to stop any gaps as I'm wider at the armpit point ....yes it got in the way of the shoulders but, it was worth it as a gap-stopper.

As Kyle did...no flaps on mine either. If you find the neck to be too tight, which I did, place a basketball/soccer ball inside the neck and set in the sun for the afternoon....it helped loosen and form the plastic for me...after 3 seasons in mine I have no issue with the neck rubbing.

I think I'll just remove them.  They are starting to bug me.

So did another game last night and had much better results with the straps a little looser. This kept the cp from riding up and trying to remove my head after every pitch. I adjusted the shoulders a little which opened up some additional range of motion. Adjusted the little wing flaps down a bit which kept them out of the should pads while still covering and protecting the gap. No issues with the neck last night since I adjusted the inner pads over thus widening the opening a little.

Comfort in relation to the Platinum WV??

Well, the Delta Flex makes all the difference in the world, if you're comparing box stock rigs. Add the DF to the platinum, and they're close.

My platinum has molded to my body over the years, and the Sys 7 is still getting there.

The padding on the All Star is superior in every way. Plus, with that center channel, it's cooler.

I haven't retrofitted the platinum with the TW pads. Maybe this Fall. If it comes out like my old Gold, it should be slimmer fitting than the Sys 7.

IMO, they're close in protection. That is to say, these two are the best on the market. Nothing compares the collarbone protection these offer, as they both have one solid piece of plastic from sternum to over the shoulder.
