yep should have never moved to begin with.. the moving for a better look is the after the pitch move in case a catcher back throws to 1st.

I see too many umpires trying to move on this play when they first start in short-A position (like first time working 3-man or something).  You cant react and move and then get set in time for this play so just take it where you are.  And yes you might miss a swipe tag.

 

You cant always be in the best possible position so be in the best position possible <-- bumper sticker
