How long has he been wearing a bucket? I don't think he had one when he got hit by the bat. Jeff is correct, once you have gotten the first good concussion, you are susceptible to further concussions.

I feel for Danley. He has seemingly had the most bad luck of any of the guys. And he is a really good umpire too, he seems to fly under the radar but if you pay attention and watch him he generally has solid mechanics, very good game management. I cant remember the last time he was at the center of a bad situation. The only time you ever seem to hear his name is when he gets hurt.

Can I look on the "lighter side" of this situation ........... i.e.; umpire "fashion" if I so dare???

 

Did anyone notice KD's cap he's rocking under that bucket?  Further, ....Lance Bardsdale's cap in the Helton video?

Hope he's OK, that's a bad spot to get hit.  I took a seemingly innocent foul to about the same spot a few weeks ago with a traditional mask (and TW pads) and got a concussion, and I don't have a concussion history.

 

Doesn't have to be a hard shot, just a "right" shot.

Yeah, they were both filthy, I loved it! When I started calling ball, the word was always wear a dirty cap...you won't look like a rookie!

Kerwin is a great guy..... Met him a lot as he is friends with a buddy of mine. Always willing to talk baseball.

Hope he takes his time and heals up properly!
