Would 3blx helped here?  VERY tough in a run-down.  

Second; I find it funny that NY found enough evidence to overturn here.

They overturn the on above, but not this one from the other day.......(keeping in mind there's many on here who also see a tag on the one below.... even from members who don't like these kinds of posts)

I think the overturn was correct. The first replay they showed looking down the third baseline showed a tag on the bag near the number. It is played again a few times around 2:20. Very close but the tag looks applied. I think the one the other night he got tagged too. Was it the same crew in NY for both the calls?

As far as mechanics, since 3BU is on the outside of the foul line, should HPU be either on the fair side or 3BX? I don't have a ton of 4 man experience but that would make sense to me to have the play boxed in. Being 1BX, he had no shot of seeing the swipe tag. I know typically these run downs are wide open especially at the MLB level so he probably played the percentages here.

From *our* standpoint -- the runner is in a rundown, it's reasonably well executed -- you need to *see* the miss in order to have a safe.  I have an out on this play even if I have PU's angle and can't be certain there was a tag.

As a general rule: rundown = out, unless something obviously other happens (obvious OBS, obvious missed tag, etc.) In amateur baseball, the expected call rules on this play.

In the video: remember that NY has camera angles that the viewing public does not have. They might have seen something definitive. In the replays provided, I didn't see anything solid enough to warrant reversing the call on the field.

Usually it equals an out, but we need a tag, and we need to see it.

Agreed.  I'd lump this into the "expected call" category if I can't see daylight between the glove and jersey.

Not specifically, but I guess that kind of factors in to this.  It's hard for me to tell what PU's perspective was -- it looked like he didn't have most beneficial angle.  So if I found myself there and saw the components of this play but not the actual tag, this would be one of those "if it walks like a duck..." plays.  For example (and a lot to @maven's point above):

- Run down?  Check.

- Well executed?  Check.

- Tag in time and within reach?  Check.

- No daylight between the glove and jersey?  Check.

So even if I didn't see the actual tag, well, I also didn't see an actual miss and everything else adds up.  I'd bang the out.
