Disappointing World Series

The professional season is now in the books and it went out with a whimper rather than a bang. I was disappointed in the World Series it wasn't exciting and really had difficulty holding my attention. I wanted the Giants to win, but was expecting Detroit to win. But in either case I wasn't expecting a sweep.

One thing I noticed is that the Tigers did not seem to have an intensity about them. Even when behind in the series 3-0 their dugout had a lot of smiling and a lighter environment. At least lighter than I would have expected a team in their situation to have.

The umpiring was great. I'm glad to get through the WS without any black eyes from the media.

I (an yes I'm an O's fan) think the best series in the Playoffs was the O's Yankees Series followed closely by the Giants Cardinals series.

TV ratings bad, but for a true baseball fan, game 4 was great. But yes, the Tigers had no heart, therefore leading to the loss IMO.

What were the TV ratings for game 4? Probably the worst of them all due to the 3-0 series lead and direct competition from Sunday Night Football an many in NY/NJ doing storm prep (myself included).

It wasn't bad umpiring as far as missed calls, but I couldn't get over the amount of movement by last nights plate umpire during the pitch. After delivery of the pitch he was often still moving his body and his head was moving to track pitches.

In no particular order..Giants/Reds, Cards/Nats, Giants/Cards, Yanks/O's. All great series. Even Det/Oak was good except Verlander made game 5 a non-issue. World series was definitely anti climatic after such a good post season. I can't help but think Oakland/S F would have been a more exciting World Series.

The AL was a dogfight from 1 game WC to DS, to CS. Detroit was flacid after the scrapping they did to get there. I personally don't like that Cabrera got the TC. He's not the face of baseball the other TC winners were. Kind of poetic he went down looking to end the WS.

I would hope the Triple Crown winner would get the MVP. That is a feat.

On the radio this morning they were talking about the ratings for the WS being the worst ever. Only gaining 12.X million viewers. The previous low was the Phillies/Rays at 13.X million viewers. The year we got introduced to the famous Elmer Fudd cap.

yawn. I was so excited before game 1. I watched 2 games and a few innings. Didnt miss a thing. But at least my garage is nice and clean.
