I'm a believer in sharp mechanics everytime. Fair/foul, Swinging Strikes, easy outs on the bases, etc. I see to many guys look lazy.

Ya its over the top. Plus I know he must get a good look as its very close to the line, but I think he's too close. What if one of the 3 fielder's decides to pick it up and make a play, he'd be in their way

The point itself is not what I have a problem with. It is the staring at the ball that is barely moving, at this point, just get ready to point fair when you see it stop moving. But who knows, maybe he did that because he knew FOX would have a camera right on it and would say he called it fair too early.

At the fields I usually work, that ball could have hit the edge of the grass, or some other crap, and nudged across the line at any time.

Was he close? Yup, But, IMO, he got really close once he knew the BR had first, and there was no play to be made. Then he had to wait for it to be touched or settle. Fellas, remember Caddyshack? In SF, earthquakes (instead of explostions) are always in play. On balls like that. that close to the line, don't assume anything. If there's play that could come to the plate. get out thar.

EVERYTHING he did I agree with, ... again, he didn't do anything "wrong"

It was the way in which it was done. Hustle down the line ... great. Call the ball fair once touched/settled...great. But you certainly don't have to (once the ball starts slowing)...slowly creep up on the ball while slouched over getting a SUPER close look as if the ball was going to "jump up and move", ...then make an overtheatrical point fair, mind you, all while STILL LOOKING at the ball....sitting still.

Again, WHAT he did was correct, ...it's HOW .... that's all

If one of the fielders were gonna pick it up to make a play they would have....come on dude.. he is in the right spot, makes a sharp call, and all you can do is criticize him... he is a position that most of would give our big toe, spleen, and maybe a kidney to be in.. calling the plate in a World Series game...

This my take:

How many times have you been in "A" and the ball was hit or bunted down 3rd base line and you couldn't tell it was fair or foul until PU made the call.

It may have been obvious to those near the ball and us watching the video. But I assure you it wasn't obvious to everyone else.
