Question for those of you who have done the AllStar harness retrofit, I am considering doing the same thing to my platnium, what is the difference between the solid neoprene triangle harness shown in this topic versus the system 7 harness with the triangle that has the triangle void in the middle of it? Is there a difference other than bout $10 in cost?

I did mine with umpire version...one thing you may want to watch out for is, "are the should straps long enough...the Allstar catcher CP may go over the shoulder further...making length of the straps an issue if you are a bigger guy. Same could possibly be said of the waist straps.

The umpire version was designed with the hole in the middle to try to help it be cooler on your back.? I am not sure if the strap links are any different.

Brad from All-Star would have to chime in with those details.

Does it allow it to stretch more? If  All Star is lurking please chime in from your companies design point of view. Thanks.

If those images are at the same scale (looks that way --- the straps have the same width), then I think the only differences are the buckles (which you will discard), and the open triangle versus closed triangle.

I retrofitted my WVG this week, using the open triangle version (from UmpAttire).  As is said above, the straps just reach enough around my torso and over the shoulders --- in both cases leaving 1/2 to 1 inch of extra strap after going through the buckles on the WVG.  I am 5'9", 165 lbs, and use S-M WVG.  Your mileage may vary.

I upgraded my Douglas using the one on the left.  You can see that it has the metal clips that is typical of a catcher's CP, rather than the plastic buckle.  It was no problem for me since I just used the buckles from my existing Douglas harness and it worked perfectly.  I bought the one on the left because the one on the right had not yet been released as a replacement part when I made my purchase.  I imagine the one on the right is slightly cooler, but I can tell you the one on the left makes my Douglas fit perfectly.

The one on the right may stretch more.  But I can't imagine the open or close triangle will make much of a difference to your body temperature.

Catcher's version looks like it is that way simply so they have more real estate to put their logo on.  I can't imagine there would be any temperature difference between the two versions.

As reference, I am big (6'4", 250) and the DF fit my 14" Douglas with no fuss.  I have enough excess strap left top and sides so I could make some adjustments, but not so much that it flops around.  Those little strap keeper loops just inboard of the buckles do a fantastic job keeping the adjustments in place - with my Douglas harness (which does not have these), I had to tape the original straps down to maintain the adjustments and they always seemed to slip in the middle of a game on a hot day.  With the DF I have never had this happen since I've had it.

Probably not for one game in normal temperatures, but I have been thinking of buying the one with the hole to give even the slightest advantage in high temperatures and for multiple games.

+1 on all of this. I did the exact same thing and it fits the Douglas perfectly.

Thank you, everyone's thoughts its much appreciated. Evidently there isn't much difference, so it seems we are ok with either style.

Anybody have any tips for a clean removal of the Douglas logo on the old black CP?

I asked Jeff Cook about this long ago, ....it's imbedded and etched into the plate, ...VERY difficult

Thats what I figured. It doesnt seem easy its not a simple sticker or anything. I noticed Adrian Johnson wearing a black Douglas and he tried to remove the logo and you can still see the outline.

The addition of a delta flex improves any chest protector. The best combination for me is a Douglas with a delta flex. Ideal IMO

Possibly cheezy and inconsequential, but i took a seam ripper to the stupid pockets in my ball bags.  lol

I keep my indicator in my left ball bag and sometimes when i would reach in for it, i'd be digging in extraneous pockets and trying to find it.  I eliminated all the pockets on my left bag.   On my right bag, i removed all the little pockets but one.....and that one holds an extra indicator.  Makes for handing a new ball to the catcher very smooth and easy.  I'm quite happy with my ball bag(s).  LMAO

I am a gear tinker'er...so hear is my list.

Masks

1. Wilson LP Dyna-lite powder coated it White with all Black Wilson Wrap-around pads

2. Switched out the Davis Pads and Harness on an Ice-Grey Frame and Added Tan +POS pad, Sun Visor and MLB Harness to it.

3. Took a Silver +POS Zero-G with Moisture Management Black Pads switched the Pads with Black Honig's Doeskins, Sun Visor, and 6 in Champro TG

4. Black Wilson Dyna-lite with Wrap-Around Pads added sun visor and 6 in clip on Davis TG over the front...Gerry Davis style.

5. Honigs HMPLE with Tan Honigs Pads added sun visor

Chest Protector

1. Wilson Platinum with Delta Flex Harness

2. Douglas 10in Custom CP

3. On my Old School Wilson Charcoal - I added a ring of elastic around the front pads near the buckle to hold the straps in front rather than twisting away when undone.

Shins

1. I removed two of the straps on my +POS 15in SG's because I don't like the extra straps on the back of my legs.

Shirts/Jackets

1. All Numbered with 3 color 3 in

Pants

1. I do something a little unique with my pants...I don't like my pants coming up when I move into my set in both the field and so I went with an approach I picked up from a pair of Nike Sweatpants. First I added 2 inches to the inseam of my base pants and 4 inches to the inseam of my plate pants. Both of these pants have a 3 in cuff. Then towards the top of the cuff I run elastic through and use a toggle to allow for me to tighten and loosen the bottom of the pants so that they do not touch the ground but do not come up my shin either.

Well that's about all I got...If anyone has questions let me know and I will send you picks of the description.

Oh, you are required to post pictures of those drawers, my friend.
