I was doing a DH this past weekend, and my partner and I started chatting about the different styles of plate stances. So I was wondering what does everyone here use? And why do you do it that way? And finally do you change from baseball to softball, or level to level.

I am a dinosaur and use the scissors. I use a knee with 12 or younger. I started doing it years ago because it is easier on my knees. It is the least stable of the stances, great once you learn it, and it will require you to go down just a little later to avoid sliding catchers.

Slot! Heel to Toe.

We have a guy that uses a weird stance. My guess it is some type of scissors. On a Right handed batter he gets behind the catcher and bends way down and his right leg is streched all the way back as far as it can go. Left leg is bend at the knees. He gets really low. Our clinicians are always getting on him because there is no way he can see the low outside pitches.

Sounds like a scissor to me but like any stance if have to be in the right spot and the right height.
