    Insurance

From the VHSL website, I navigated to a link on Official's Insurance that had this info: What activities are covered?: Insurance coverage applies while the member is performing his/her officiating duties during a regularly scheduled sports or activity competition. The sport or activity must be recognized in that state by the member state high school association or by high schools that follow the state association guidelines. If the sport is recognized by the state high school association for men or women, the official will be covered for officiating that sport for both men and women. Officiating duties include chain crews and attending officiating camps, clinics and meetings. Coverage for officials extends, not only to high school activities, but also to college, independent youth, adult and recreational leagues. However, coverage is still limited only to sports recognized by the state high school association. 2. YOU should be proud or YOUR accomplishments. They were not cheapened by the selection of others. They were earned by hard work.
  3. I did a 10U game a few years ago where the VT pitcher recorded every out on a strike out. The game ended 7-1 and was a one hitter with the only hit coming with 2 out in the last inning and was an inside the park "home run." Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  4. I thought I saw a Majestic logo on it at one time, but wasn't sure.
  5. I have a feeling before this series is over, Holliday will get plunked.
  6. Two hands over the head is "Time" not "foul". Why would U2 be calling "Time" before the runner even got to 2B?
  7. I love mine.
  8. I was going to post this one - you beat me to it! Why doesn't he adjust 3BLE? He just stays POP. In the other one you posted where Bellino rotates in from first, he gets 3BLE but then looks like he moves too far up (even beyond 1BL). These plays develop so quickly at this level. Instead of pause, read, react - it's more like pausereadreact!
  9. Somewhere there must be an interpretation that says no attempt to avoid = intentional interference???
  10. It looks to me like he is getting distance and direction towards first with his free foot - just not very much. I did a search and found this from earlier this year where he was called for a balk for a knee pop (according to the announcers). http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=20836363&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_20836363&v=3
  11. Kulpa is right on top of it. Palmer is a douche.
  12. The correct call was not made. "Nationals catcher Jesus Flores was stunned that Kemp scored on the play. According to Flores, Porter was confused by what was going on during the play. Porter thought the bases were loaded when there were really runners on second and third. Porter then went to his fellow umpires to help him with the call." Gross miss by an otherwise good umpire. Kept my Nats from clinching last night.
  13. No argument from R2 - That tells me something.
  14. I was told by and Evans graduate at a clinic not to draw attention to myself by calling time when I clean the plate.
  15. Except that PU wasn't up the line following the play. I think that's probably the main reason why he didn't go for help - he didn't have anybody to go to. I think another reason (in general) why umpires either do or do not go for help has to do with the attitude of the approach by the manager.
  16. You do know that the Brass Balls Award is just an award. It doesn't really mean you actually have brass balls. I am LMAO right now!!!
  17. I was going to post this video with the question, "Do you wear your cup when you work the bases?" I do. :agasp_:
  18. How did he see whether the runner's foot touched the base or not?

    Brawl

“Quirk was ejected for screaming out obscenities at the third-base coach,†umpire crew chief Jerry Lane told a pool reporter. “That was the ejection for the coach. The fracas was started because all that stuff happened and that was instigated by Quirk screaming out at Porter. And the obscenities that he screamed out I just felt was inappropriate and that’s what caused everything.†Porter was ordered to stay in the third-base coaching box the rest of the game but avoided ejection. “(Porter) got very close to being out of order himself,†Lane said. “Had he got into the dugout and started a fracas, he would have been ejected. But I thought this was all stemming from what Jamie Quirk did and he started it, so I got the person that started it.†The Nats (up 7 - 2 at the time) stole 2 bases off of a journeyman relief pitcher. Then, with the bases loaded, Jayson Werth swung at and fouled off a pitch with the count 3 - 0. I guess Quirk felt like the Nats should have been taking it a little easier on them.

    Missed Base

I don't think the replays were conclusive, but Torres' (non)reaction to the call is pretty good proof to me.
  21. First person to test this protector with the "baseball on a stick" and post a review gets my vote for member of the month! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  22. Lots of chatter about MLB needing to do something about preventing collisions at the plate. Molina was back behind the dish last night.
  23. I'm sure the, "You're f-ing _______" that went along with the finger point didn't help much either.
  24. :P to you Brycehaters! :D
