but there is just no way. 1

Absolutely, positively, definitely, without a doubt I’m not really sure. 1

My name is Kevin, and I am a gear junkie

Welcome back to the group Kevin, remember you are never a former gear junkie, but always a recovering gear junkie. 1 -
looked good to me. To add to Mr Umpire, there is no penalty for getting in a rundown between home and first, you could stop short of 1st backtrack 89' and until the D touches you or 1st you're not out until you reach home. 1

Warren, did you ever get that mic? I'm still hoping for some podcasts for Umpire-Empire. 1

How much does your clicker weigh?

NO, not really. did you go back and read this thread? It was a joke from the start. Is this your first day back after a break? 1 -
Jeff, I think we all agree about the great service, But volleyball? really? :)

I was just waking up (west coast) when my wife called from work and told me to turn on the news as a plane had hit one of the towers. I turned it on just in time to see the second plane hit. Life would never be the same. I have a 3'x5' American Flag flying on my house with a light that shines on it every night and I always will. God bless America. 1 -
I've used a lot of phrases to describe a strike... throw the dart, tear the phone book, start the chainsaw, punch the midget in the face, and now my new favorite "pierce the cloud"... I'm only going to use it to harass my softball brothers. 1

the "double swirl pump"
-
maybe so... but then again with the level of ball I often do the words "infield fly" alone may not be enough for a coach/player to know that the batter's out. 1

PBUA? Hey nieghbors, I'm across the river (Battle Ground)... EBUA I was with the EBUA for 3 years before I moved to Portland. I was in Portland (not PBUA) for 34 years until I moved to BG 3 years ago... sorry I missed you. 1

I think the INT occurs on the throw by F2, not F8's bad throw. agreed, but had F8's throw been on than F2 wouldn't have made a throw and R2 would not have "int." 1
-
I would say no INT., I know that R1 CAN int. but in this case I would not award the D for a bad throw by F8. I may be wrong and am willing look at other views but I think I would sell my 'that's nothing" and play on. Will be awaiting others input. 1

Worked w/a guy last weekend who told me he had a partner do that in a game he had called that morning! It's an epidemic! That's how they preach it on the much more popular forum, ThatGuy.org More popular??? Maybe in the past. Anymore there are more posts/threads here (no scientific data just an observation). Congrats Umpire-Empire. 1

while engaged, can't fake to 1st, other bases ok... with a runner. doesn't matter if RHP od LHP. can throw to any base for the purpose of making a play. 1 Edit: OBR, I think FED has restrictions on throwing from the stretch, others will help out I'm sure. 1

had this same type of thing almost happen the other night. w/R1, F1 throws what was the ugliest "change up" I've seen, the ball barely makes it to the plate where F2 picks it up. both sides got a good laugh out of the 30' pitch, but I started to wonder if I would have balked him if it didn't make it. It was a pitch not a drop so I don't think I would have. Any opinions? Thanks, 1

Ump24 has proven himself on more than one occasion to be a knowledgeable and capable umpire. The advice about getting in shape is easier said at a young age then after a few more decades of life, but his advice on umpiring is still sound. 1

I bought the mask this season and have used it for about 10-12 plate games. The mask is very light and reasonably comfortable out of the box. I didn't care for the stock pads so I replaced them with some tan doeskins... this did add a little weight to the mask but I like the feel and look better. The harness is not as "elasticy" (yes, I'm aware that is not a word) as the mask I am used to. I have adjusted it a couple of times but it still doesn't slip off as effortlessly as my old/worn in mask. I may replace with my old harness or just stretch it in the off season. Overall I am happy with the mask but if I had it to do over I would have just purchased the frame and used my old harness and bought upgraded pads to start with. Hope this helps. 1

find a new association/assigner... not saying the short notice doesn't happen now and again, but 24 hours should not be a norm. 1

Thanks for the support all, I'm glad I did wait the full 30 and will again next time. yawetag, I was doing the game solo, we had thunderstrom warnings that afternoon with the dark clouds coming in from behind me. As I came up to balk him he was looking to the sky and both O and D coaches pointed out the lightning. I wear a traditional style mask and didn't see a thing. I did have one parent tell me that his pole on his instant-shelter arced at the ground. Not really sure how I missed it but it was there. 1

Fed rules. I did a plate game the other night, I balked my F1 and he and the coaches let me know that it was because of the lightning stike (behind me) very near the field. I let the balk go and told everyone to clear the field for 30 minutes. The rain let up after about 5 minutes and the coaches wanted to restart the game, I told them 30 minutes and I was sticking to it... of course after another 5 minutes the sky was blue and the sun shining. So now to my question. Do you require a full 30 minutes on any lightning delay or do you restart the game early depending on the weather. I waited a full 30 minutes but had a lot of pressure from parents and coaches wanting to get the game going. Just wondering, 1
