  1. great pic Brian. does anyone have a pic a second later when the fat dude is actually pulling on the glove or after Cruz points up and the typical NY fans are giving him a typical NY welcome?
  2. haven't you heard the song... he's got Gerry Davis eyes.
  3. I'll bite, volunteer. I'm the UIC for my local LL and have the same issue and in my neck of the woods paying in LL is unheard of.
  4. can Tim McClellan (sp?) be added to the ineligible list?
  5. Thanks for your quick work ukce. 1
  6. Hey all, does anyone have a pdf of the 2010 version? Thanks, 1

was the F2's father a coach (I hope) or just a parent from the stands. otherwise sounds like you handled it fine.
  9. I'm with you Jax... I'm order #7663, 5 shirts, 1 jacket, 1 pair pants order arrived yesterday IN FULL. it was like Christmas, I was very satisfied. 1
  10. funny, I thought he must be talking about me... I bought the 13" last spring, I'm 5-9 & 140 and it fits just fine.
  11. yes, if R2 misses 3rd with or without a stopage of play or a base award he is at risk of being put out on proper appeal.
  12. Ret, not real clear on the play at hand but... if there was a play being made on R2 at the time of obs then the play would be stopped and the ump would place R2 where he believes he would have ended up without the obs. if there was not a play being made then play would continue while the umpire "protects" the runner as far as he thinks he would have made it without the obs (could be 3rd or home). the only way the D could get an out on appeal would be if the runner was obs before reaching 3rd and then was awarded home but never touched 3rd on his way. just because you are awarded bases does not mean you don't have to run the bases properly. 1
  13. I completely agree but let me play devils advocate for a minute. We "sell" calls all the time all over the diamond, so why not behind the plate. I only brought this up because over this last month watching alot of non-pro umps on tv I saw (like we all did) some strange mechanics and this was one of them. I have always (and will continue) called my 1st and 2nd strike the same regardless of location, with my called 3rd being a little stronger and including "THREE" while I draw my bow. thanks for the feedback. 1
  14. my called 1st or 2nd strike is a strong STIIIKE with a "throw the dart" type point to the right. my question is do you change the strength/loudness of the call depenting on location? if the pitch is at the corner of penis and broadway is it more relaxed and quieter than if its at the knees and a ball off the plate? thanks, 1
  15. no, I didn't slow that down, or try to catch the slow-mo. It's a banger, I leave it alone and expect that the best umpires in the world did the best possible job they could. 1
  16. a little know rule (to the public not umpires) I'm looking forward to enforcing one day is a one base award for F2 touching a pitched ball with his mask. 1
  17. 8u maybe 10U scrimmage type game fine. anything else no way. 1
  18. sounds like a good call and a well handled sitch I'm glad I can learn from you experience. 1
  19. Great post Mr. Umpire, I fear a few years back I umpired, I am happy to say now that I am an umpire. 1
  20. so bases loaded B4 hits to F6 who throws the ball halfway into right field, all runners score BR ends up on 3rd from errors. do all runner "poof" if one left early? if so I'm sure I wouldn't have "seen" the leaving early. if he is thrown out at 3rd all runner return to thier TOP base correct? thanks 1
  21. if I'm reading your post correctly I think you mean as far as rotation/positioning. if so, then yes. I don't have a ton on experience doing 3 man so when I did for our LL tourney I found myself saying (to myself) what I would do if the ball goes out, stays on the infield, what to do if my partner goes out. things like that so when the ball was hit I was moving and not giving it thought when it was to late. In 2 man I think I did this when I first started but after a while (short while) it just happens naturally. 1
  22. when my partner is "A" I find that my hustle is just a little bit faster, my timing a little more consistant, my call a little more crisp. I'm not saying I'm laxed when my partner is "B" I just find that I'm able to focus on "my" game more when I'm confident my partner is on "his" game. when I have a "B" type partner I find myself looking over my shoulder more often to check on him, maybe he forgot to rotate, maybe he's hi-jacking my call. with a "B" partner I prefer to take the dish, maybe so I can have everthing in front of me. with "A" I really don't care where I work. 1
  23. fan, I'm 5'-9" & 135 on a good day. I tried a few CP's including the mentioned Honigs K-1, the K-1 felt HUGE on me. I looked like a 12yo linebacker. I bought a champion P220 and have used it for about 20 plates this season and I love it. I'm not trying to compare its protection to a gold or platinum but its perfect for a small guy doing up to 16U baseball. I have heard of some guys wearing it for varsity and juco ball but I'm not sure I'd try it. 1
  24. sorry, yes U1=PU, U2=U1 (guy in A), U3=U3 (guy in D)... does that make it clear as mud? 1
  25. bad 3 man that happened last night. most of the guys I work with do mainly small diamond 2 man but when tourney time comes we try to run 3 on all of the LL TOC games... well last night I'm U3, R2 & R3 B4 hits toward the LF foul pole I GO OUT to see F7 make a great grab. when the play is over R2 & R3 have scored, the D asks for time and then appeals to 3rd that R3 left early. Did I mention I WENT OUT... not sure what U1 was watching but I can tell you what he wasn't watching, anyway after F1 and F5 play catch long enough for the HC to figure out that the ball needs to be put in play U2 yes U2 rings the kid up on appeal! I'm looking forward to solid 2 man next year. 1
