  1. Here is my Sitch. Ball 4 is delivered to the batter and deflects off of the catchers shin guard and rolls out of play. is the batter awarded 1st on ball four or second, one on the walk and one on the ball out of play. We had a good discussion tonight at an association meeting. I was in the camp of just first based on the award of an out of play ball being for a batter runner or a runner which the batter was niether at TOP. If someone can site a case play that would be great. Thanks, 1
  2. So my Diamond bucket sleeve showed up the other day and I told SWMBO about all the contents of the FSB... SWMBO then dubbed it an "Umpire Purse" not too pleased was I. So I just got an email, she has prepared the FSB for me (see pic). that didnt work, how do I show a pic?
  3. How tall are the home depot spray bottles? I bought some at Walmart but they are really tall. I want to compare the height and I might go and pick up some home depot ones. The Walmart ones are really too tall for my 6 gallon FSB. They make the sterlite container sit a little to high in the bucket. Still loving the FSB. I hit up the "travel" section at my local target and they have smaller spray bottles that work great for the FSB and decent quality also. 1
  4. less than 2 outs = a 2 outs = c I don't see any other options, 1
  5. If B4 allowed the ball to touch him in fair territory, he'd be out. I think he meant F4 and then C is the correct answer.
  6. that is great... indicator wheels. I'm ordering my bucket cover today and can't wait to get it stocked. Thanks KF
  7. I see where you are coming from but I look at it a bit differently. I'm the UIC at my local LL and I encourage protests. I know that is not the norm but in my mind the outcome will be someone learning something. If an uneducated coach files a protest with a dad/umpire then hopefully there will be a protest committee with a UIC and a book to sort it out... resulting in all parties having a better understanding of the rule. At the same time, if the coach doesn't understand the rules he/she probably doesn't know when/how to file a protest and then it's not an issue. YMMV, 1
  8. I wish they were confusing the two but they are not. after the meeting I went to the instructor and both he and a highly respected umpire in this group tried to convince me (but did not succeed) that the out of Charles was sort of like a "team penelty" and since R1 is Baker then Charles must be up. I held my belief and am now convinced I understand BOO. Thanks, 1
  9. Hey Jax, once a pitch was thrown to Able Bakers at-bat becomes legal thus making Charles the next legal batter, when Able finished his at bat and the D appealed Charles is called out for missing his legal time at bat. Sounds strange I know, but thats just the way it is. 1
  10. I was at an association meeting last night and we were going over BOO situations. I've always thought I had a good understanding of BOO rules until this one came up. BO: able-baker-charles-daniel-edward-frank.. and so on TOP of 1st Baker comes to the plate to lead off and singles, Abel comes to the plate and singles on 1 pitch. Now with Baker on 2nd and Able on 1st Charles come to the plate and before anything happens the D appeal BOO. SO, here is how I understand BOO. The pitch to Able legalized Bakers at bat, when the D appeals before Able is legalized Ables at-bat is nulified Baker is returned to 1st, Charles (who missed his at-bat) is called out and the following batter Daniel is up[6.07 (d)(1)]. This is how I see it but last night the consensus was that even though Charles was called out HE is also up because he follows R1 (Baker) in the order. Have I lost my mind? please show your work. Thanks, 1
  11. thanks Sdix, I found it using your advice. Warren, thanks for the help offer you can disregard my PM. Thanks guys, 1
  12. is there a way to use the search feature but for only posts containing pics? Thanks, 1
  13. I have BF3 for xbox but I just can't get into it the way I did BFBC2. my gamertag is stupidhumantrix , if I manage to start to like it I'll look you up Jax.
  14. to the OP, I'm going to work on my "yes he went"/"yes he did" mechanic on a bunt attempt. If I could have a favorite machanic that would be it. By "work on" I mean work on not calling it so often, I find myself almost looking to call it with any little flinch of the bat. I'm especially agressive when a batter pushes just a slight amout and then pulls the bat back completely. I find myself second guessing after the call thinking should have let that one go. I think my work will be on making sure it was an honest attempt and not just a flinch. 1
  15. Yes, they are magic that way. I wear mine in the Pacific NW Feb thru July. Water (moisture) is a much better conductor of Thermo energy than air so when the temp heats up a bit the wicking material brings the sweat to the surface to be magically removed by the breeze leaving your skin feeling cooler. At least I think that's how it work... all I know is yes it works in both cold/hot conditions. As far as brand I know many swear by the UA (Under-armor not Ump-Attire) but I use the less expensive brand and it works just fine. hope this helps. 1
  16. Two years ago my partner and I did the "bats and hats" and tossed two helmets out. Later that game, two outs, runner on first (I am BU, B position). Runner takes off with the pitch and batter smokes a line drive just to my left. I am thinking this could be close. BANG!!!!!!! Drills the runner right in the ear flap. Kid went down like a ton of bricks. Called dead ball and went over to check. He was able to sit up and we recommended to the coach that the kid get the rest of the day off. (He did). The kid got hit so hard that the cheek padding left an impression on his cheek. Told the coach - "THAT is why we toss the cracked helmets." Also had to tell the kid he was the third out for interference. GOod thing he did not look back to find the ball or he would have caught it right in the face.
  17. Thunder, it's October, I live in the Pacific NW... it's cold and rainy, I haven't been on a field since July. You could start a thread on the best tool to notch the strike wheel on your indicator and I'd happily read about it. keep up the good work. 1
  18. so after a reading this thread for the last few days I picked up a heavy bat, crowded the plate, took a hard swing and tried to check it... guess what, my back foot moved toward the other batters box just like in the stitch. It may look unnatural but I'm sure there was no thought or intention on the HBP. 1
  19. Pretty much a 2SF, I will go b/t 2SF and the back corner of the bag, but I generally don't go fo 90 degrees anymore. On the second I was probably 2SF and I probably would have had a good look at the tag from there (one reason why I don't do 90 anymore) IF I had seen the whole picture rather than zooming in only on the foot. 2SF? sorry to sound like a noob. 1
  20. I don't know what you saw, but I think it just caught the outside corner. 1
  21. Ugly? Are you kidding? They are the most beautiful piece of umpire gear I own! I would wear them to the mall if I didn't think it would get me divorced. 1
  22. is it a day or night game?
  23. I used my scientific graphing calculator compared that to the answer I got on my abacus and came up with the same answer as sdix. 1

    Balk...?

Kind of hard to picture but I don't have a balk. You can rotate either way even if it is clumsy or akward. From the OP it doesn"t sound like he had committed to the plate so I have no balk. 1
  25. I'm afraid to ask, your first least favorite place?
