  1. What I find interesting is the MLB logo on the side of the mask. It also shows up on their website.
  2. Cobalt plate brush?
  3. As I await my Cobalt chest protector, this is still atop my All Star wish list. I got mine from a retiring MiLB umpire years ago, and haven't seen any evidence if this actually being in the market place. By far, this is the best plate brush I've ever used. Thin, perfect sized bristles, very well build, and non-brittle plastic. Good scraper, and great for plate cleaning. (and no, the old or new +POS aren't even close) Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the All Star PB-2. Jim, could you put a bug in the ear of the AS folks re this one?
  4. So what do hockey style helmet users do in these geezer led organizations? If they contend you must wear a hat under it, I'd counter that these were not tested with a hat underneath, hence might not be as protective with a hat on. As in when compressed, the bill of the hat might be dangerous in the bucket. Do they also require a navy hockey style helmet?
  5. The skull cap is not a hat. Hence the hat rules should not apply. I believe what there referring to was the introduction of their new helmet. They said they tried putting in plastic plating, like in the lower pads, and it just didn't work.
  6. I stopped taking my gear cues from the MLB guys when I asked a local one "How you choose your gear?" "I dunno. I just use what comes in the box every year".
  7. I ran into that issue with an 8 stitch and the old +POS SUL. Those frames were pretty flat, and my bill actually stuck through the frame. I was too new to know any better, but that probably contributed to my first concussion. Now, I'm quite aware of it, and test all my hat/pads/frame combinations.
  8. You won't match your partner unless he's wearing a navy helmet, too. To me, hats and helmet are two different things. Plus, if I'm working the bases with Kerwin, I'd have to shave my head.
  9. For all you clambering for a navy helmet: Do you also need to wear a navy mask and pads? If not, why not? And a helmet is not a hat, so.......... Look, if they start making more colors it will only drive the price point of all the colors. Jim would have to double his stock and raise the prices. We, as a group, need to push back on the geezers who run some of these organizations. I'm all for being uniform in what we wear, but we have to some leeway, especially in our protection. No one, NO ONE should be requiring a navy helmet behind the plate. Now would someone please help me down from this soapbox? As far as the first Cobolt C/P, I have my own lab for testing. It's a baseball Gorilla Glued to a Callaway driver shaft, swung at me by my 6'4" son. That way I can "control" the shots to some extent, and do some comparisons with the System 7. Film at 11.
  10. And no one ever mentions the helluva great backup of first by the catcher. (he's a product of our local LL park. Great kid)
  11. Pants go on later in the process. Your shirt is now clipped to the bottom of your feet via a long strap. So now you have your chest protector and shirt on, and then you pull your drawer on and attempt to tie your shoes. Good fun.
  12. Way better than my work Zoom meetings. Ordered my 1 of 72 C/P during the call. (Thanks again, Jim!)
  13. Just be advised that if you go that route, the order you put your gear on will change. I was quite baffled the first time I used them, and had drop my drawers several time.
  14. For shirt "stability" I use these on my plate shirts and LEO uniforms. https://www.amazon.com/Stirrup-Style-Loop-Shirt-Stays/dp/B08FVJBY89
  15. I think the BIG question is, are the base pants as floppy as the Smitty? That was my only real beef with the Smittys, the base pants are way too wide. And yeah, if baseball wasn't postponed until next March, I'd order a pair or two of those new GD pants.
  16. Collarbone protection is where the CPU4000, the WV Platinum and new Diamond all have plates that attach to a large breast plate, and go over the shoulder. To me, that's a great selling point.
  17. I love 7.13, and hope they never change it. I've had two poof plays, and the bases loaded triple, where the BR gets thrown out diving back to third. That one was even better than a poof play. And the bases loaded single, that gets by the outfielder. Oh, that was fun to explain. And every time the leaving early has nothing to do with the play, But, dems da rules, and there's a flag on the ground, so..................
  18. Cool! I'll keep that in mind if my Rampage ever chips. Good to know.
  19. Honestly, what's the hurry?
  20. Springs work until they bottom out. And what's wrong with Zorbium?
  21. D manager fails for not protesting an easily overturned misapplication. Next time.
