Batter runner hits a bunt down 3rd base line. F1 picks up the ball and throws to F3 who catches the ball into 3-foot line, and tags BR just a few feet before 1B. At the moment of the taf, BR runs into F3 with elbows up and F3 drops the ball. I don't think BR wanted to make contact, but most ptobably protected himself from the contact with F3... So ?

Situation: no outs, R2. The batter hits a grounder to the shortstop. As the ball rolls, R2 starts for third base. I had this situation one time in my very first games (last year..... ) The runner went into the catcher about 10ft up the 3rd base line. My interrogation is: as he bumped the catcher with his left shoulder (similar to a very close play at the plate), do you consider this as a "legal slide" or a malicious contact? Clearly, the runner's intention was to make the catcher drop the ball as the contact occurs.
