  1. Congrats. Training, training, training and more Advil!!!
  2. He waited, made a call. I liked it.
  3. I use Cat Crap on my glasses, umpire, sun and motorcycle. I swear by it. Amazon sells it, Campmor sells it. I little goes a long way.
  4. I have some O guage stuff back in PA, from 1950s, 60s and 90s. Little lead people. I last ran them in 2001. I will hand them off to my oldest son if he ever has kids!
  5. Ball changed direction off heel. OUT!!
  6. I would have laughed!!
  7. OK, what questions do you have? I have built 3, butchered the first, built with Brownells parts. 2nd one I used all top of the line, best lower, hight quality parts, was expensive, but shot dimes at 150 and 200 yards. Last one was adding as many rails as I could and really pimped it out, green dot, flashlight, 3/4 sights. All the whistles and weight. More like an M-4 style. Hammered forged barrels suck, go with match barrels. There are plenty of videos and stuff on the web!
  8. What sound did you hear? No noise at all? In these situations my ears are my best friend. I can tell bone, bat and meat sounds. I used to laugh when a ball hit a kid in the back and it echoed, I told the kid he needs to eat more.
  9. 1) Sweaty days call for airing out, and a good spray of Lysol. Fabreeze is great when you forget step 1. 2) Every month really look at your equipment and gear and check for weak spots. Make sure you have spares. 3) Hats can be cleaned on top shelf of dishwasher without a cap frame. 4) Team wendy pads can be thrown in washer, if you aren't kloodgy to things, throw it in with your girdle and shirts. 5) Shin guard straps and CP straps, should always have a spare. I like metal clips, hate velcro.
  10. I don't think there's an official on line version. You can get one from your league or by joining the LL umpire registry. This is correct. Soft version for this is received via Internet connection through Little League Umpire Registry. http://www.littleleague.org/umpires/UmpRegistry.htm
  11. Uh, duh!!
  12. Yup!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  13. Wow, so many choices. I keep a squirt/mister bottle with water in the truck. when done a game I mist em and brushem with the above recommended horse haired brush. Then I let them dry. The next day I will put a little Kiwi black on a soft cloth and spit shine em. Then use a different horse hair brush to polish them. I also keep and old soft toothbrush to get tight places on the shoes like down near sole. 1) I don't put chemicals on shoes. 2) once damp, or wet, allow to dry for polishing. (Especially after sweating in them for hours) 3) Use the military method. Kiwi is still best out there. Simple and effective. http://www.artofmanliness.com/2013/09/21/how-to-shine-your-shoes-video/
  14. I think this goes back to the obstruction call that was mentioned earlier. It is definatley a HTBT play. If you play and umpire games enough you get a sense of what the players are doing.
  15. I am done after 3. I can do 2 fields and a plate, and have done 2 plates and a field. I prefer 2.
  16. How many on here are MLB umpires? Until you become one then what you would or would not call don't mean diddley!! Even if we were all MLB Umpires, it would be easy to see that booted call. But I only do Little League.
  17. Still can't watch it!!!
  18. OK on all!! Do love me a good knuckler!! I always know I am in trouble when a coach tells me he umpires, too. Might as well just wait for the issue to arise after that. Good day for you!!
  19. Still Love Little League!

    1. Texas Manny

      Texas Manny

What's there not to love? It's baseball! It's umpiring.

  20. Unless I see it, he is safe! But he did get asked to seek help, and he did, 1st base ump didn't see it clearly either. Safe! That is the way it goes, human factor is built in to baseball. Even next year this one would no be over ruled, while we all sit and watch 4 hour games.
  21. I have an Ap for that!
  22. Anyone with the name "LMFAO at You" should never be taken seriously in the first place. That's my 5 cents, and I might get change back.
  23. No argument here. But if time is called? I agree, it shouldn't be, but if it is? Can we call time, yes, in this case should we have, no. Mistakes happen. Next year, with instant replay, games will be 4 hours long. 3 years from now college will have mandatory video requirements. 10 years from now we will be reqired to review grandma's IPhone from the dugout in LL. When do I retire?
  24. Hi TM, there is not enough video to make that call on what I saw. One second the camera is on the batter from the fistbase dugout, then switches to batter and balk is called! It seemed that the PU had it all the way, he was animated and definitive!
