Who was watching the runners?
-
See all comments about idiotic 10 year old coaches and apply here. You probably should have allowed the play and when he was safe at first tossed the other teams coaches.

we have protest fees for our Adult softball league, all proceeds fund the umpires beer bash at the end of the year.

"go away or I'll call intelligence obstruction"
-
That's funny the team that just crushed you said that I'm the best they ever saw
-
Stay Home let them cover all the other stuff, dont move from behind the plate and call everything a strike. They'll love you for it.

tie can't go to the runner, he has to beat the throw a tie is not beating the throw

Pickle Juice and pickles for that matter are good for you, great digestive aide. know your body too much fruit and you can get a sugar dump and crash hard.

The best feeling in the world is the 1st game your are in the field after 2-4 games behind the plate, usually feels like you dropped 35 pounds. And hopefully they were in the morning and your partner has to deal with the sun and heat for the afternoon. and you can take the opportunity to make fun of him, "hey its hot out huh!!? hows the mask feel? Or - second guessing that hockey mask in July yet? Hows the crotch rot? Feet hot? Dude Im not wearing underwear, it's awesome. "Hey you need to move around behind the plate a little more" Nice salt ring around your hat, your an embarrassment. or my all time favorite "Man up- its not hot."

Tie goes to the runner, hands are part of the bat My comment " when he bought the bat were the hands attached or did you buy them seperately? , Slide To Avoid (some umps say that at the plate meeting and I clarify), 1 base on an overthrow, Foul tip ball is dead. All hit batsmen get first base. Pitch that hits the ground and then the batter does not count, the ground can't cause the ball to be dislodged - if he drops it its still a catch (not sure if you guys ever got that, but I did twice) , breaking wrists for a strike, home plate is foul when a hit ball touches it, always safe on a base when a batted ball touches him, Bunt - no attempt and leaving the bat is a strike, he was in fair territory when he touched it.

Typical rule book drudgery

you lose good day sir.!!!

With todays legal system, I'm calling time for serious looking issues. other than that play continues.

Missed the LL part. My answer or retort would have been; sorry coach, pay 2 umps, go away, be gone, scat, leave.

Did he take his signs from the rubber?
-
The guy left early? You saw that too? Awesome coach you appealed too late, go away. Peripheral vision, I would have ran him, but the appeal part would have shut him up. Your just delaying the obvious and much needed. And if you smelled alcohol, tell him to leave or the cops will have him leave.

Sorry Coach Abner Doubleday invented that one a couple years back.

Last Night was a classic
umpcoachfather replied to Umpire in Chief's topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
I love kids like that. They make a pleasure to work games, unfortunatly they are few and far between. The best I had was a bore fest Varsity game and the 2nd baseman walks out to right field in between innings and asks me if I can tell his mother what he wanted for dinner after the inning was over. I told him I would have no reason to go over to that side and he understood. was quite funny at the time. -
How do you rule the "yellow" on top of the fence?
