  1. the rules and interps for sliding are vastly different in LL, HS, NCAA and OBR. Look them up I dont have the time. If I read your situation correctly and you were doing a LL game, he would be out for sliding head first.
  2. You need to state the rule set, you have about 87 different possibilities.
  3. You were fine, his coach should deal with him.
  4. Indeed.
  5. in fed hanging his arm down with the ball in his hand is known as "gorilla arm" thats a balk.
  6. Tell them the pitcher needs to take the signs from the rubber.
  7. Trout - I'm an X5 man myself.
  8. Sounds like the Joe Torre wanna be that I have witnessed. As soon as you walk on the field and see a coach like that a huge Red flag pops up.
  9. Come to jersey and do a double header behind the plate in July @ 98 degrees and 400% humidity and let me know how the hockey helmet feels. New Umpires should be forced on an experienced partner to develop them.
  10. I try to keep my chin on top the the catchers heeed. If I can. Nose on the inside of the plate and I dont move. I try to reference the top of his zone when he gets set and go from there. I visualize a little lower cause their will be some movement of the batter. Very hard to explain this.
  11. But did the pitcher take his signs from the rubber? Trout thoughts?
  12. Do what Happy Gilmore did in the batting cage.
  13. Trout - Stitch Jones, the Earl of funk, the duke of cool, The ayathola of rockin rola also said that.
  14. OBR states the ball must travel at least 250 feet for it to be a home run, not sure if their is a FED rule that is similar.
  15. INFREAKIN Deed
  16. yes, but does he have to take signs from the rubber?
  17. Selective memory deficiency disorder. it generally effects only baseball coaches.
  18. I never come out of the dugout or the coaches box and say anything about being an umpire.
  19. You handled it well - All coaches who say they are umpires are immediatly wrong and should excuse them self from games. You should have bet him his car he was wrong.
  20. Utopian response "I told your pitcher to calm down instead of tossing him for his little temper tantrums, when he throws strikes he'll get them. It's 15-0 in the second you have more than me to worry about."
  21. Yes they are a font of knowledge. Next time Im calling balls and strikes from a bucket in the dugout, evidently thats the perfect angle.
  22. no implication, just trying to get you to think. where did you go when the ball was hit? where was your partner? Did you discuss pregame?
  23. We get eval'd at random and it could be whenever you are working, regardless of level or type of game. My first eval came during the Mens slow pitch championship game. I was called at 4pm to work that game at 6:30 cause the other guys couldnt make it, found out later they bagged the game cause they knew it was going to be a sh*%storm. I tossed 5 people and my eval was rated "AWESOME". The other guys are not umping anymore cause they can't get games.
  24. Didnt you realize all those kids on that team will one day be playing pro ball? How dare you make a judgement call like that, you should know better. I would have sent both teams to the dugout and told the coach to quiet his parents down or they'd lose really quick, then I would have not continued until the tourney director or who ever else was available was there. And I would want security at the field before I continued. I wonder how many of those kids, if polled, would have said they wish their parents would shut up during games.
