  1. That is what I meant. It was answering @johnnyg08 "Older graphic...but I don't think it has changed."
  2. I'm sure there's nothing in writing. I'd probably try to apply common sense. It would be situational dependent. Anything after a pitch or play where the number of outs may affect any decision, I'd say that's too late. Note...Any type of game where the PU has the lineups, this should be on him. Just note the number of the batter who bats prior to the empty spot. In PG, or other tourneys where the official scorer has lineups, it's more on him and the coach of the tem who wants the out.
  3. It has not changed in the CCA. It's the first thing that's always discussed in my college two man pre game...." Ball stays on the infield, BU has it all" FWIW, The "new" FED manual doesn't have PU covering 3B on balls in the infield. PU is responsible for 1.Calling the pitch 2. All fair foul calls 3.Fly balls in your area of the outfield 4. Slides at second base on potential double plays 5. R1 advancing from first to third on any batted ball to the outfield.
  4. As the umpire, you should have at least noticed prior to the missed AB they’re playing with 8 in the field, even if you weren’t informed. At that point I’m asking the manager of the team with 8 if they plan on batting only 8 (FED. Technically the injured player could re enter if he was a starter and bat). Then I’m making sure the official scorer and opposing manager knows there’s an open spot, and asking them to remind me when that spot comes up.
  5. Umpire classroom 101’s latest quiz is a great example of why it’s dead in FED. How many high school umpires, especially ones who have “made their living” at the subvarsity level, know, or care to learn all nuances of live ball balks? I can see their heads spinning and brains short circuiting watching this.
  6. Reversing that all could have caused an international incident 🤣
  7. The way I handle this in game situations- when the batter takes off for 1b, reiterate “Batter’s out! Batter’s out!” If he keeps running, and the defense throws, it’s on them.
  8. Nevermind. I see what you’re saying.
  9. Correct. FED is just "Past the infielder" (Wherever those infielders may be) where other codes the ball must pass under or within reach of the fielder.
  10. What is the rationale for INT in FED? It would need to satisfy one of the following.. 1. You judge the ball hits R1 NEXT to F3 and not PAST him, or 2. You judge F4 had a play on the ball. If it's not one of those two, I think FED wants "Play on " here. I'd have no issue explaining either of these to the offensive coach, because keeping this ball live is for sure the dirty end of the stick.
  11. Thanks for that. I’m convinced now the ball was not through or by, but a shot that F3 had no chance to get to. So regardless of F4, its interference in OBRand NCAA. FED is a different ball of wax.
  12. Just to expand. FED has a caseplay and says the ball is live. Does NCAA or OBR have any guidance on this?
  13. At a minimum, a steel toed work shoe. You don’t want any ball at any speed hitting your toes square.
  14. @jimurrayalterego has the FED interp and caseplay. Nice find! Here’s how I answered this question. D is definitely wrong. If it’s interference, A and C are correct. So, the answer must be B.
  15. I don't have a push here. F3 held the ball on him and R1 tried to move his foot to the white base. I don’t think he was touching the white base when he stood up.
  16. Don’t laugh. I know for a fact this isn’t far from the truth in areas I may or may not be familiar with.
  17. You can’t have a rule for the offense and not the defense. If a base is dislodged and it moves from it’s position, if you’re going to allow a following runner to touch the area where the base should be as having touched the base, ( which is indeed a rule) you must allow the fielder to touch the same area, and if it’s a force only, you must count the out. This seems pretty cut and dry. What’s the alternative? The defense has to run and touch the base wherever it may be to get the force out, while the runner is running to the spot where the base should be?
  18. Is that a little TV screen for video review. 🤪
  19. Are you saying technically this isn’t a hidden ball trick, and still just a pick off attempt?
  20. I read this… and it makes perfect sense. Then I thought about an average fan reading this and watching his head explode. 🤣🤣
  21. That’s a great guideline! And on this batted ball, there’s no way the runner could have expected f3 was going to field this ball.
  22. That makes sense. Certainly an interesting play. I found the condensed game on you tube, but the play is barely in the frame of the video and there’s no replay.
  23. It was a rocket. It may have been by F3 before he even had a chance to put the glove down. He clearly never even took a step in the direction of the ball. So even if it ws only 3 feet or so to F3's side, you're saying that wouldn't be enough for through or by, so interference is the call? I can get on board with that. Plus that's probably the less dirty end of the stick.
  24. That's my subscription feed so I'm not sure it will play? here's the best still I cold get.
