My local facility has phenomenal turf that allows for play in most rain. (Not getting into that). But had numerous games where I was out in the chilly rain with soaking CP. Etc.

Even with my "water resistant" wind breaker there was little chance of staying semi dry.

Was wondering what, if any coat or gear are guys and gals using to keep them dry under these conditions. I haven't seen much, if anything for umpires to really keep us dry. Any input would be great!

For water polo, where rain is not a factor unless there is lightning, I wear a Frog Toggs rain suit. Basically PVC, super light weight and made to go over your normal clothing. Only real issue, being PVC (I think) the material does not breath very well at all. I got mine on Amazon and there are a ton of colors available for roughly $30-$50.

Yes...I have a nice heavy coat that holds up good to the rain but same issue, much over 70 it's very warm...too warm.
Was hoping there was something I missed in my searches... thanks for the input. I do have a an all black cabelas rain suit made for tournament fishing but was going for something with a more official look.

@Blue 5, check with outdoors and hiking supply stores. REI is a very good store. They have a lot of lightweight, waterPROOF (as opposed to resistant) jackets that will keep you dry while also not making you too warm.

Be mindful of your association's uniform guidelines, of course. For a summer youth travel game, for example, there's far less scrutiny than there would be for a scholastic, American Legion or travel showcase or tournament. We're a resourceful group...if this is a field you're working frequently, likely your local brothers have a solution, too.

If your association is (still) playing in the rain, uniform guidelines can go stuff themselves. If you (TPTB) want me to stand out there and officiate, in a downpour, in your stead, then you better zip it regarding what I wear to accomplish the job.

Is that association providing the uniform? No? Then those uniform guidelines can go stuff themselves in those… extenuating circumstances.

Otherwise, if TPTB are sticklers for “uniform policy”, then leave the game for them to call themselves, in their hoity-toity uniform.
