Hey all, I'm new to this... do you were something under you leg gaurds to stop the straps from rubbing you raw during a game? I've got skinny little chicken legs so they don't fit that great in the first place. thanks, 1

or long johns.

Honig's.com, gerrydavissports.com, betweenthelinesofficialsgear.com, ump-attire.com

and many others sell compression tights that cover the whole leg.

old fashioned long john's/thermals will do and believe it or not do not burn you up.

In a pinch get long tube socks and pull them over the knee joint or cut the feet out of an old pair of tubes and pull them up to protect.

I gave suggestions in order of rookie/cheapskate status.

Us old guys appreciate the tights for the compression on our muscles. Some old guys stick to the long johns. I do not know anyone who does the socks but I have read it on other forums.

My two cents. Your mileage may vary.

Hey all,

Nylon/spandex "running" pants with two pairs of tube socks provide good compression and cushion for the shin guards rubbing against the legs. I prefer the nylon/spandex under the shins because the knee area of the shins will move a little easier when you need them to flex.

It's funny, I tried the tights and hated them, went back to long socks. I also wear regular t-shirts instead of UA. The other odd thing I do is I use the grey Wilson guards and I took the top two straps off. I didn't like the pressure on my knee so I use the protection without the discomfort. Call me wierd.

Ya I never hook the top strap.

:crybaby2: Here I am. I wear compression shorts and long UA baseball socks which come to my knee. I wear the WV shins so the top two straps still touch my skin, but it doesn't bother me. Those two straps are loser.

I've considered going to the tights but have just never done it.

I never had a problem with rubbing, but started wearing the compression tights because of the weather. I find them very comfortable, hot or cold. And there is still no rub.

I wear the compression tights and the Gerry Davis socks and they are quite comfortable even in Georgia in July and August. By the way, my wife thinks I am nuts wearing those tights in the summer. What does she know?

I wear Thorlos combat boot socks with a reinforced toe and heel when I am on the plate. These socks are very comfortable and come almost to the knee. They are a little warm during the dog days, but while wearing them I have never had a problem with discomfort from my NB plate shoes.

This year I picked up a pair of cheap $10 tights at Wal-Mart before a wet, nasty mid-30-degree game. I had never worn tights before and I thought they were GREAT! My legs were kept warm and there was no rubbing at any point from my guards.

Compression tights + Gerry Davis plate socks = comfort.

I know a lot of guys dont like the tights because of the way the cup fits into them, including me. I wear a jock strap over the tights with the cup in the jock strap. Much more comfortable.

I picked up some Under Armour heat gear tights on eBay for about $16 a couple of weeks ago. They are really nice to wear under the shin guards, and they're not hot at all when the weather is warm.

I also have UA cold gear tights to wear when it's cold, so I always wear tights now.

I personally like the Shock Doctor line. Great for baseball and hockey. They have compression shorts and pants and all types of stuff. Cup very flexible and moved with you yet stays where it needs to.

I love my McDavids compression tights, except for two things:

The cup seldom gets "seated" right; and

You have to wash them without softener

So I've tried the jock outside the tights with the cup in the jock, and that's better. and I wash the tights with my uni pants without softener.

Works For me.
