  1. Hey all, I know this is reviving an old thread, but..... I use the 36" Diamond bag. I considered the Wilson bag at the same time and went with the Diamond because, for virtually the same price, the Diamond has the zippered mesh pockets on the lid of the upper compartment, and the Wilson doesn't (at least that is what I was told 2+ years ago when I bought it from Ump-Attire.com.com.com.com.com.com.) The end pocket hold my plate and base shoes, both size 14s, without any issue. All my gear in the bottom compartment, and for a while the was a second cp I kept there in case of a mechanical failure of my main one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Bigdog
  2. Hey all, I agree, Hell NO!! Bigdog

    Balk Plus

Hey all, You have to go through the progression of the call, with the balk taking priority over anything else because it happened first. If it was a straight CI, yes, you award BR first base and advance all runners one base. How does the CI nullify the balk? Bigdog:cool:
  4. Hey all, Why no charcoal? Charcoal has pretty much become the default/standard color for almost every organization out there. Bigdog:cool:

    Balk Plus

Hey all, In FED, "Time, that's a balk!!" Enforce the balk. In OBR, let the play continue until it is over/ the ball is no longer live. This happens when the ball touches R2. Enforce in order: 1: BALK - runners did not advance at least one base, therefore Penalty for rule 8.05 is enforced. 8.05 PENALTY: The ball is dead, and each runner shall advance one base without liability to be put out, unless the batter reaches first on a hit, an error, a base on balls, a hit batter, or otherwise, and all other runners advance at least one base, in which case the play proceeds without reference to the balk. End of situation. Bigdog:cool:
  6. Hey all, NEVER wear a flex fit while on the dish! You can't control the fit enough to stay tight on your head AND they don't come with a shorter bill. MAYBE on the bases, but once you go fitted, there is no other way to go, IMHO! Bigdog:cool:
  7. Hey all, My first choice would be Honig's poly-wools, with the Honig's ultimate pants second, and then the Davis brand pants. I have poly-wools and the ultimate pants going on their fourth and third years, respectively, and they are still good as new. I wear the poly wools on the plate and the ultimate on the bases. 8. Hey all, You shouldn't argue with stupidity, like that guy, they just pull you down to their level and beat you with experience. Bigdog:cool:
  9. Hey all, Johnny Bench, who ruined more catchers than he helped because he made it look so easy!! Tom "Terrific" Seaver and Rickey Henderson. Bigdog:cool:
  10. Hey all, Steve, you should have kept your V-Sport!!! Bigdog:cool:
  11. Hey all, After every dead ball, I will point the ball back in play. I will verbalize it if I feel it is necessary. Bigdog:cool:
  12. Hey all, Here is my opinion on the topic: 1. It's the "Dark Side"! 2. I don't like the allowance of slap hitting/running bunts (say that 3 times fast!) 3. With all the chanting, it resembles a sport for wannabe cheerleaders who couldn't make the squad, but have good hand-eye coordination. 4. I REALLY don't like the fact that once you get to a 60' base path, that is it. 5. EVERYONE wears hats/visors of the team colors. No red ribbons in the hair when you team color are purple and gold! (I have seen it!) 6. Umpire mechanics are too robotic (spread feet, squat, call strike, signal strike, stand up with hands and feet together, lather, rinse, repeat.) 7. Use a white ball. 8. Base coaches in softball have to wear helmets!?!?!?!?!? 9. Brush off the rubber and the bases. WHY? I can see them just fine in baseball without doing this. 10. No leading off (Goes with #4) I'm sure I could think of more if I really wanted to, but I don't have all day and there ain't enough bandwidth! To be fair, some good things are: 1. Drop dead time limits with the same , roughly, game fee. 2. Maybe #3 above. Bigdog:cool:
  13. Hey all, Here is another way to think about it...... With the bases loaded and 2 out, BR hits a ground ball to F6, who bobbles the ball. The BR passes first base, without touching the base, before the throw is fielded by F3. The proper call is safe and R3 would score. If it is appealed before the BR comes back and legally acquires (touches) first base, THEN BR is called out and R3 does not score. Bigdog:cool:
  14. Hey all, It's been a while since I have posted, so here goes.... For general purposes, the BR has acquired first base when he passed the base. On the appeal, it was ruled that the BR had not LEGALLY acquired first base and was put out before legally acquiring first base, therefore, no runs score. Bigdog:cool:
  15. Hey all, Nylon/spandex "running" pants with two pairs of tube socks provide good compression and cushion for the shin guards rubbing against the legs. I prefer the nylon/spandex under the shins because the knee area of the shins will move a little easier when you need them to flex. Bigdog:cool:
