F3 throat guard?

I received mine, it's not as "gaudy" as it appeared in the picture in the OP.  It's not as curved.  The pictures @wolfe_man posted do it a little more justice. I can't get the picture to upload. and not tech savvy enough to figure it out.  If anyone can figure it out, PM me and I'll email you the picture.

It looks really wide. Much wider than most other throat guards.

I don't think it is wider than my spider, but I'll check tonight.  If nothing else to provide a prospective recipient more information.

I don't mean to bash this new F3 guard, but I think I like the looks of the Spyder/Spider (sp?) more.

Agreed. It just looks "cleaner" to me.

Here's one in silver.  The coloring doesn't exactly match the mask, but I like it.  I had an All Star magnesium on there, but the clanking was extremely irritating.  Before every pitch, I'd hear "clink....clink....clink"  as is gently swung back and forth.  This one is very quiet.  I think I'll keep it.

Magnesium is a bit darker.  However, it has no coating.  It's also light as a feather.

I like seeing all the discussion on throat guards. I think F3 did a really nice job on incorporating the style of the Defender while keeping it lightweight and functional.

One more piece to add to all the throat guard discussion this week, now that @Go Navy Beat Army mentioned it, is that All Star is discontinuing their Magnesium throat guard.

It's funny. For as much as I love the design and look of the FM4000 rigs. That's how much I hate the look of the throat guards.

Do you know why they're discontinuing it? 

I have one on my FM4000MAG right now. The top of it is deteriorating a bit, which is probably just due to sweat and sitting in my gear bag. I'm sure if I looked after the throat guard better it would hold up. Anyway, I'm just curious why they aren't making them anymore.

I'm going to guess it is because no one but umpires are using them... not enough juice for the squeeze.

I cant recall seeing more than maybe two people use the All Star throat guard of any type.

The more exposure that Force3 can get, the better, because that company is one of the minute few actually progressing and producing gear for us.

I searched, but could not find it. MLB's video search is down too. But iirc, McCann was in. They both wear F3
