It's not a rule. It's an MLBUM/PBUC interp that has been ignored for years. This year they got religion.

I'm happy about it. I never understood arguments to the contrary.  I've heard fans and commentators alike say how prohibiting take-out slides dumbs down the game. If you want to see that kind of contact, football is the sport for that. I don't believe it belongs in baseball.
