Anyone getting any games for 2016?  I am up to 5.

When do you usually start receiving games from your assignor?

January ......... usually Feb, but this year, we got some in January as well.........

2016  1 assignor in jan., 2nd feb  and the last about a week before season starts and have say he can not find people to cover games

My earliest contract signed for the '16 season was back on 1/2/2014.  Perhaps I should have delayed in case new rates kicked in.  Perhaps the ADs should have delayed to make sure I'm still kicking.

It's January for my high school association.

You guys have received games before the school year started? WOW! We usually don't get our games until the Sunday before the week let alone the beginning of the school year!

The conference I assign - I've assigned all of 2016 for baseball and softball. I'll be doing 2017 in a few months. We do things differently here. Wish it wasn't that way... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I've been places where assignements came out way early, and places where they came out a week (or less) before the game.

 

I've been places where assigners did the work, and where you contacted schools directly.

 

I've been places where the umpire paid the assigner, where the schools paid the assigner, where the association paid the assigner.

 

I've been places where the schools paid the officials, where the assigner paid the officials, where the association paid the officials.

 

And sometimes it was more that one of the above depending on the specific league, etc,, not to mention (but I will), HS vs. park district vs. travel vs. college ...

I've gotten assignments on my drive home (for 30 minutes later).

I get assignments a week ahead of time if I'm lucky, the day before or the morning of if I'm unlucky.

Enrollment in the HS association doesn't even open until September!

One assigner starts getting them out in about October (remember we don't start HS ball here in Iowa until late May) but doesn't finish until February or so. The other assigner doesn't get them out until a few weeks prior to the start of the season. My partner and I still contract some games with smaller schools on our own with the athletic director. Sometimes those guys will give you games more than a year in advance in both baseball and basketball. I personally don't like committing so far in advance because you never know what might come up in your personal life a year or two from now. One or two months in advance would be perfect for me.

I won't get assignments until the weekend before either.

Our HS season is posted on February 1.  Most of the other leagues and levels are a week or 2 in advance.
