This would only matter to someone at the field who is evaluating you, and doesn't care for the fingers.

No one else on the planet would even notice, much less care.

Yes.

It's petty.

thanks for reconfirming what I've already spelled out ...AND ADMITTED to you in the OP.  Any other wonderful discoveries you'd like to share?

Guys, this isn't a MECHANICS clinic, or discussion.......

I was just wondering if anyone had noticed the pro level (really the only place I've noticed it, major and minor leagues) using 2 fingers on the second strike, and why you'd do that because MOST of them do it.   Is it a training thing at that level, etc?

Obviously no one really knows, ...or cares, LOL.....

It was strictly for discussion purposes, nothing more, nothing less......

It's not a standard mechanic. Looks silly to me. IMHO

Hammer or point the correct way! Save the unique mechanics for the called 3rd strike!

I've decided that the hammer with middle finger extended is appropriate for called 3rd strikes.

Petty, I know, trust me ....but ....

Has anyone noticed the amount of guys who point their strike call (most) use 2 fingers when it's the second strike?

WHY?  I don't know why this bothers me, but why does almost every MLB and MiLB umpire do this?  So many of them do this, I have to assume it's something that's suggested during training?   Does anyone know?

AGAIN, ...I know it's petty, and it's not important, but I was just curious to know .....

example:

Its just a self reminder that there are 2 strikes. Just like some will call out "Ball......2". Not a major issue at all.

I opened last night and discovered I'm a two-finger pointer.  My Mom was right!.
