Thanks all! I will get the combo pants. By the way, I will be doing high school.

In that case get base pants and plate pants.

Will combo pants still look tight with a low-profile LG? I'm not a very large framed guy (beer gut notwithstanding) so plate pants look like I'm ready for the circus even with LGs.

Well he's dead now he taught me everything I know about umpiring.

I started with combo but they just aren't quite right. Plate/base just look better-make me feel more professional

Wear plate pants when you work the plate and base pants when you work the bases.

Because you asked and been told how bad Combo pants are then you make the statement that you have now deleted that you are going to buy Combo pants!

I never deleted. You must be confused. I was first advised that the combo pants would be fine. Then, other umpires started chiming in. It will cost me the same either way. Cost is not an issue.

Thank you all for the advise.

Combo pants are only appropriate if your gear consists of a set of communal green catcher's shin guards, a balloon chest protector, and a whisk broom and ONLY if you are attempting to look more professional than the other guy who usually wears red shorts and a softball tournament t-shirt when he umpires.

Otherwise, get a pair of plate pants and base pants.

LOL. Understood! I have ordered plate and base Davis Charcoal pants as they are required for my association.

I love this site.
