What do you guys wear under your shin guards? Last year I wore long baseball socks which worked fine, but my new West Vest shin guards require more length up top, over my knee, to keep the straps from driving me nuts. Experiential wisdom would help, even if it's 'man up!'. Thanks.

Oh yea, I searched the forums already, came up dry.

Compression tights

Any particular brand you recommend?

I have many pairs. I use the Eastbay.com Omega mentioned. I also have the shock doctor ones.

I prefer ones with true compression. After 9+ innings ( remember I'm extra innings Workman) I do notice a difference on the ones that have true compression.

If you want to spend the big bucks I know a few runners that swear by these and they were even mentioned in last year's NCAA clinic. http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:76237/sku:40809765/cw-x-pro-tights-mens/black/grey/?cm=GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH

I think Jeff needs to write up a "How to search the forums" article and make it a sticky.

Nike pro combat tights come in gray. They work very well. UnderArmour Heatgear and when cold Coldgear also do a great job. McDavid were the best. I don't think they make them anymore. I did NOT like Smitty at all. Threw them away after a game one night.

I have a pair of the McDavid hex pad tights, they were/are the best but they are no longer sold. I only wear the McDavids when I'm doing a plate and if its a DH with a base then I wear the Underarmour Heatgear tights, they work very well but do not have the padded protection.

Hey -- can someone tell me how to search the forums?  I searched the forums for a thread on searching the forums, but I couldn't find anything.

I also wear UA HeatGear. I've got some Reebok compression tights that are alright but way long so I end up having to fold them up.

I'll probably invest in some EastBay stuff for the coming season as I've heard it's good, and it's much cheaper than UA's stuff (though the compression tights I've got from UA aren't actually too bad; about $30 per).

Look under "How to search the forums" under "How to search the forums" tab.

If that does not work send Jeff an email every hour on how to find out about "Buckets"

UA Compression Heat Gear all the way!

:-)

These were great last summer. The only "negative" was that they started to wear quickly under the shin guard straps. Rotated two pair - will go to four this year.

Also, as someone noted, the UA COLD gear is great for those March/April freeze-a-thons.

Of course folks like Jax and the left-coasters wouldn't understand that...

I've been wearing these for two years now under WVG & WV Shin Guards. Haven't had any issues with wear or tear in fabric.

:-)
