Had a couple of 14U Travel ball games yesterday. Getting payed has never been a problem.

At the plate meeting 1 coach pays my partner. The other coach says I'll get you blue.

So I'm like ok no biggie.

Everything went well. No issues.
After the game he decides he's going to have his team meeting and coach some of his players and talk to his coaches. I get his attention that I want to leave, I need my money.
He tells me that he is busy and I have to wait. I tell him I do not have to wait.

Finally he decides he's going to pay.  But first want to chew my ass that I was being rude, bla bla bla. I tell him he has to pay before the games start. He said that's not the way it works.
Well I know I will have his games again. I will stand there and not start the game till I have money in hand!

Why are coaches such idiots!!!

Absolutely hate that. I am very reasonable. But if this happens I go back to my assignor and let him know. Usually an email follows up to all teams to have money at plate meeting.

Ive had that happen, usually after that coach's team has lost.....IN summer we insist that we get paid prior to the game, but it still happens occasionally..... Assoc needs to set him straight....if we get a unrepentant offender, we send vets who wont let pitch one happen until paid....or the assignor tells him no pay at the plate meeting, no umpires....

"Pay him.  Pay that man his money."

Rounders ! Brilliant, @grayhawk. You have to say it like Teddy KGB.

Do you have a stack of Oreos in your ball bag?

@JaxRolo, you should point out that the coach is the one who's rude, considering the other coach paid, up front, without batting an eyelash.

Believe me I told him. And not nicely!

If you're supposed to get paid at the field, get paid before the game.

Rocket science 101.

How long have you been doing this?  Rookie mistake right there.

Where is the monkey holding his hand out to be paid gif when you need it?

I now tell coaches that no money=no play. All fees paid before one pitch, right in the rules (that you probably did not read).

What most of you are saying is true. The problem is you don't want to come across as an a$$ hole. The coach will say, yeah yeah I will get it to you. Let me just get my team going here. And then in the 4th inning you remind him. Oh yeah I will get that for you right now. Then the 6th inning rolls around and you mention it again. Oh man I forgot. I will write you a check. Sorry about that. Then the end of the game and the coach rolls out with his team. The next time I work a game for him I employ the sorry coach I need money up front. Remember this is an isolated incident. 95% of the coaches pay you up front or at the first reminder.

Jax, coaches are a lot like politians, "in their minds they are the smartest people in the room", but in reality they ARE the biggest idiots in the room.

He PLAYED you alright! LOL

So my hat is misspelled because it reads "CBUA"? Should it spell "CUBA"? LOL

I keep trying to get them to fix it!
