Just pulled the trigger on a new gold from Ump Attire shipping straight to Team Wendy's for retro fit. I will have a allstar system 7 for sale in about 4 weeks, can't wait for Gold to get here.

Sorry Jeff, I was excited on my order. I will try to post some pics when the item arrives in a few weeks. I will ask Team wendy to send the original padding back when they ship the gold to me.

Yes, they send back the CP with their padding strapped in, and then your original padding that was on it when you sent it in.

Why on earth would you want to retrofit a brand new West Vest? That profile ain't that much slimmer. Please don't try and persuade me otherwise, I have seen them and tried them on. Not enough to make me want to spend the money, especially on a new one.

I figured I go ahead and do it from the get go. That way I can sell my system 7 when the gold gets here in 4 weeks. From the pics I saw and from talking to a few guys on here that have had it done, it looked way slimmer to me.

The only thing that feels weird to me about the TW retrofit is how spread out the plastic plates seem to be. Has anyone else had the same thought and can TW make the padding a little smaller so the plates are closer together?

Plates on my platinum are in the exact same place, and as you mold it to you if feels better and better.  Stu not all of us can have a ball force field as your luck would have it.  Nor your pop eye arms that makes even the thickest chest protector seem slimming.  So more power to the guy who wants what he wants and goes after it.  Enjoy the rig when it comes in.

The way I see it it is not the size of the padding but the location of where they put the straps, as they should be in the same location as the original padding

I am the owner of a L-XL Wilson Gold. It is to big for me...which lead me to this question:

 

Is there any difference in the sizing of the plastic plates between the M-L and L-XL on the Gold of if it is all a padding difference? 

 

Anyone know because they have had both or have both sizes and could show me / pictures of the difference would be appreciated.

I have both.

I have used the M-L for the past several years.  I just picked up a new L-XL and actually like the way it fits better.  I'll try to take pics of both side by side later.

I was in the local used sports equipment shop the other day and saw a Platinum.  Not in the greatest of shape but the plastics plates didnt look too bad.  It was under $30.  Is it worth getting and retrofitting with TW if I just bought a new Platinum about a month ago?
