Really, is that necessary?

I got home pretty late last night my wife was already asleep, but I wasn't ready to go to sleep so I turn on the TV expecting to get the O's Xtra after their game, but it was only the 8th inning so I sat and watched the rest of the game in bed.

 

Arizona tied in the 9th and won in the 11th when the same guy hit HRs.

 

I must have accidentally woke up my wife as I was looking for the remote to turn off the TV. 

 

So the announcer says, ".. and the D-backs beat the O's..."

 

And I hear from my wife, "Really, is that necessary?"

 

I thought she was complaining about me waking her up and said, "Sorry, Couldn't find the remote."

 

She says, "No, not that. They have to be so childish and call the other team douchebags because they lost. That's ridiculous."

 

I started laughing. And explained to her the other team is the Diamondbacks, but they are often called the D-BACKS,"

 

"Well I never know with you that seems to be one of your favorite words." (I assume a knock on me as my 9 y/o son recently learned a slew of new words including douchebag when I had a minor melt down while driving the other day).

Wives are great. When I was contemplating which umpire school to attend I received a call from Harry Wendelstedt. My wife brought the phone to me letting me know it was Harry Wendelstick. Harry and I got a real kick out of that one.

I told my wife your story and they thought it was great. Her response would have been,"What kind of trash are you watching?" Believe me, I've heard that before. I was watching a Rush concert on Paladia with my sons and from the kitchen I hear the trash statement. All three of us respond,"That's not trash, that's Rush!"

Yes!!  My Dbacks won 3 in a row, all walkoff wins!!  We may not catch the Dodgers, but are exciting to watch!!
