Out at third ..... but my question relates to something I've seen this year quite a bit .....

Why bang the guy out, and stare at him? Bang 'em, turn around and walk away, right? Why do guys do this, ...like they're waiting for them to say something, I don't understand ....

Why do MLB umpires dump and stay engaged with the dumpee in conversation?

We teach " Toss and Turn" to our young guys.

If the dumpee stays and wants to talk/piss and moan the other umpire rodeos him away.

Jeff, there was a good amount of contact on the slide and F5 got knocked back a little. My guess is Gibson just kept an eye on everything for a little longer to make sure there were no "extracurricular activities."

I think the runner did say something and got a short answer. This wasn't staring at him at all imo.

The ball was there, but in the side replay the 3rd baseman lifted his glove up and didn't get a tag on until the runner until after he hit the bag.

Might that have been the sourse of conversation?..."he missed me!"..."the ball was there"....

Classic fielder getting his glove out to avoid injury...but we all know he's out.

Aside; for all those fans who are harping about Meals and the supposed need for replay, what happens when a play like this is reviewed?

The runner pushed the F5 as he was clearing, then said something to the umpire. He has to stay and watch, then answer the runner. Once done he turned and walked away.

Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2

In big boy baseball it is much, much different... if the players or coaches are not giving you any crap or are not going crazy.. stay there until your done talking.

I like the Jerry Layne approach! He looks like he's thinking, "what the F*^# is wrong with you? "
