I was watching that game live on TV.  What an amazing relay through from Simmons.  Never thought he had a chance of getting the lead runner.  He put the throw about two feet from where the tag was made.  The Braves ended up winning 11-3.

I love Cuddyer. He went to the same HS as such greats as Justin Upton & me  All around good guy. But why the hell do you send a 34 y/o guy home on that. You can see he is winded before getting to 3rd. 

 

Fire the 3rd base coach.

 

Oh yeah, it's really cool to see a rotation conclude with the BU making the out call.

he got the call right, but I think he should have been more towards the 3blx... or a couple of steps to his left.

On a side note, is it just me or do you think the on deck batter is too close to this play, he's well in the dirt circle!  I understand the throw was coming from LCF and not RF, but it could have kicked off the catcher and bounced off of the on deck batter with no tag by the runner, plus there was another runner on base,  a lot could happen here.  I hate it when on deck batters get that close.  I chase them away if I have time.

It's not included in that clip but the Sportsouth broadcast had another angle that clearly showed a several inch gap between the glove and Uggla during the swipe.  The position of the umpire leaves him no way (that I can see) to see that gap.

And he was not in the back pocket either, he was pretty much 3BLE. He leaned but not enough. Plus he was pretty far back.

The same plate umpire was just knocked out of the game with a 92-mph fast ball to the left forearm.  Looked pretty painful.  They're about to restart play in a 3-man system.

Yeah I thought he was fine. If you screen capture it when the tag is made he is in a great spot and is set. Too many people over analyze this stuff.
